Wow!

OK, 1: Sickle, if I contributed to an air of what you perceive as disrespect, excuse me. I honestly do think that an evocative and unexplained symbol can work as an artist name, although my graphic skills are pitifully short of being able to show what I mean.

2: Also at Sickle, I really wouldn't worry about it that much. Lay low, put together a c.d.s worth of material, and an appropriate name will come of itself.

3: At everyone to whom it may apply:

SETTLE DOWN!!

I know that people here are capable of better than this.

At least I think I do.

I think you should go for something other than sicklecell666, er, sickle. In fact, Sickle might be good. the whole thing does sound a bit forum-y.

If anyone has any ideas what i should call myself then let me know... its difficult innit/!

"Sickle" seems to carry the most weight, and I wouldn't have to sacrifice existing familiarity..Although as this thread demonstrates in some places, that might not neccessarily be a bad thing..

Oh, and more on topic, I thought about this for a while myself, and came to the conclusion that it was time to separate certain things I was doing from 'whyterabbyt'.
Partially it was a separation of the project from the preconcepcions of an online persona, but actually it also helps to concretize the differences between specific projects. In the longer term it abstracts out and maintains a specific 'aesthetic' for a given project that helps me to drive the direction of certain things...

But precisely my point, actually.

And if this thread indicates anything, it's the pitfalls of failing to compartmentalize or clearly seperate various aspects of one's persona, particularly in a multimedia enviornment like the internet. The difficulty I face with this is due mainly to the inertia of using the same rediculous screen name for almost 8 years and slapping that on as a Artist title for my material..

For the record it bugged me as much as it bugged those who have spoken out in this thread, which again is why this thread was made in the first place. Ditching "Sicklecell666" as a moiker not only frees me simultaneously from accusations of racism, incongruent spiritual inclinations (

), and percieved immaturity.

I don't need a nick to enforce that last one, as we all know.

I just felt kind of stoopid using a different name and employing that in the Music Cafe, but in thinking about it now, endmusik has probably handled this issue the most admirably through his various Artist identities, ie: The Wretch, etc..

Inertia/apathy's a bitch, folks. Learn from my mistakes..

I remember the incident and remember staring at the screen dumbfounded that you'd actually taken that seriously and logged off. one of the biggest drawbacks of internet communication is its ambiguity. if you don't want to come back, that's your prerogative and I wholly support that decision with no ill feelings toward you.

just in the future if you say to me "hey what's up" and I respond with "STOP ASKING ME ALL THESE f**king QUESTIONS. LEAVE ME ALONE.": its a joke.
