Yeah, it wasn't officially supported that long ago, thus the errors. We've brought it up to speed, although it's just short of official release though. Try it.djsubject wrote:@ chickeneps?

Hi Garth,
Any story on why the Emulator X convertor that's bundled with Emu products crashes whenver you try to convert any E3 CD? I guess I am a bit hestiant to purchase any further Chicken Systems products based on my my extremely poor experience with this product. Does the problem lie with Emu not releasing updates provided by Chicken Systems or is it something else?
Thanks

The Emulator X Conversion Program is Emu's property and we haven't touched it in two years. We simply coded part of the convertor, and not the part that is causing you the problems.
Even so, it has always worked well on our machines.
The crashes I see reported are NOT in the second step, after you select the Preset and are doing the actual conversion. It's in the first step, when you try to select the Preset?
It's crashing mainly due to a combination of low level disk access and some other factors, in my estimation. I would try disabling/unhooking memory card devices, or disabling a RAID controller type of thing on your machine, and it may/should work better.
Let me know.

Your display here will ensure that myself and anyone I can tell will stay far away from you and your products. You are quite the professional.chickeneps wrote:Is this a competitors forum? I'm interested in addressing peoples needs, not beating a competitors product. Perhaps you guys are invoking your values upon mine; I don't think that way at all. I simply pointed out that if you need a certain conversion, you don't have to wait for it if you don't want to. There's many people reading this thread, not posting, that may be interested in that. If you do want to wait, fine - your choice, free market.
Oh well.

We have a good products here (translator and converter, both are worth its price). Both have own directions in development. Probably in some cases we can cross our business but this is not a reason to fighting in words. That's my opinion

Hi Wlod,
I am sorry if you have taken offense to what I said.
I was just cross that everytime a thread about ESC comes up that Garth would put his own 2c in about Translator.
There are and have been many threads about translator and what it does and doesn't do. And to cut in to another thread about anothers product and to tell them to buy yours instead is rude. Not to mention the fact that the thread then became full of Translator related questions.
I am sorry if I overreacted.

Ben:
Welcome to the world of unmoderated forums, where anyone can say anything with a seemingly complete disregard for facts.
Guys, you can say anything you want, negative or positive, all I ask is just be accurate. Make your corrections and move on.

I'm sorry, I didn't directly answer the question earlier.slasi wrote:Does the problem lie with Emu not releasing updates provided by Chicken Systems or is it something else?
Emu has chosen to do the updates, they've been in charge of the code. We haven't added or changed code in two years, as we don't even have the current code, just what we submitted originally (which worked fine). We only submitted a portion of the functionaly, Emu did the rest.
The way I run my company, if there's any problem, I ask them to submit a Bug Report, and we look at it usually with 24 hours and fix it immediately, or explain what to do and what causes the issue.
I would hope Emu does the same. The good news is that your issue is probably avoidable by making some adjustments in your system. Call them.

we moderate what needs be moderating.
i don't think this place is unmoderated. In fact, Others would highly disagree with that statement.
Anyway i passed this on to Ben for further Moderations.(As posts were edited)
(If anyone ever has an issue ...just contact one of us moderators... we do try our best but do not see every thread)
EDIT (I see now some posts have been edited by the posters so my comments here may be read wrongly...
ahhh.... the almighty edit button)

It seems to be both now. Perhaps people can start posting a new thread, or the moderators can split it themselves (not a bad idea).androidlove wrote:is this the esc thread or the chicken soup thread?
There's been several people on this forum that allude that there's "lots of bugs". We ask them what they are, and most don't respond. Some do, and those are bugs that were resolved years ago and aren't related to the conversion process. Many threads have been resurrected from long ago and if you look at the dates of the posts, they are from months or years ago.androidlove wrote:Hey chicken guy, i've got the the chick sys free 2,9. if i get the latest, will the multitude of bugs be gone? i've been afraid to check. really, this thing is so buggy it's scary
All programs have bugs of some type. Like I mention continually and consistantly, if there are ANY bugs that you encounter, place a Bug Report in www.chickensys.com/translator/bugreports and we usually look at it within 24 hours.
I completely dispute the allegation there are lots of bugs, as many people that have posted on this forum have agreed. I use the program all the time and if they existed I certainly would see them. If there were lots of bugs I would see it in the reports from our thousands of customers.
Translator is a 7 year old program, if it were "buggy" we'd have known it by now!!!
Apparantly you've experienced "this thing is so buggy it's scary". So it'd be easy to share what you've experienced and how it can be reproduced. A Bug Report can be filled out within seconds. What I don't understand is why our thousands of users don't experience the same thing.

The only reason I haven't looked at Translator is, I don't see SampleTank2 as a source format, and I don't see Wusikstation as either a source or destination format. So that's pretty much 100% of my sample formats not covered.

Those are important formats for me too. Too bad the new ESC didn't support ST2. I've got SS1, SS2 and ST2XL and I don't think I'll want more eggs in that basket until I got a way to keep the sounds in case something happens. Ah, well, EMU needs money too, and the EmuX has been good to me.james0tucson wrote:The only reason I haven't looked at Translator is, I don't see SampleTank2 as a source format, and I don't see Wusikstation as either a source or destination format.
