I was was wondering if anyone knew if eXT ran on Linux and which distro it runs on?

It [XT2] will run on any x86 based linux distro with X server and ALSA.

xt2 will not require Jack. It will run out of the box on Linux 2.6 kernel (ALSA has to support your soundcard though)

I can run xt2 on latest ubuntu with 128 frames buffer size, 64K buffered disk streaming with real-time time-stretching playback of wav's and (my little Linux sine) VST without any audio dropouts (running audio playback in high priority thread).
This is with OSS and ALSA on a "vanilla" 2.6 kernel and my SBLive card.

the sampler manual i'm reading says:
"Currently routing can only occur on an individual sampler in a patch which can make applying modulation to patches with a large amount of samples time consuming."

it would be cool if you could route to, create envelopes, assign dest or source--whatever, to all samples (or select samples) ...
i could be missing something here (i'm new to samplers) but it seemed to make sense to me. it would certainly be a time saver.

The sampler comp (as everything else) is having an extreme make over in XT2, so yes this will be possible.

XT2 will have clip freeze with ghost clips sharing the same wav...its semi automatic, you'll notice when you try it...

sounds like what were perhaps looking at is less a-modular-environment-with-a-sequencer-element-within-it like eXT but more a-sequencer-that-is-capable-of-modular-routings-and-other-clever-stuff (which personally is what i always thought eXT was going to be) ...

Im a little dissapointed with the way its planned but i think it will work. for example, adding inserts adds it as an insert in the mixer (I would like for the module to appear in the main window, for routing changes, bleeding from other parts into inserts, etc.)

isnt that more like send? I dont have a problem to "visualize" adding an insert should show up as a chained fx in the modular view, but when you start making multiple connections between comps and "inserts" in the modular view, it will be a problem to show it in the mixer. Thats why there is a modular view, so that you can do modular stuff. What IS an improved in the mixer though, is that you can see all the levels of all the cables (feed into other comps)
The modular view shows all "comps". The mixer shows all "outputs" for each comp (channel strips)

Yes, XT2 comes with high-quality commercial real-time timestretching/pitchshifting algo. Audio clips can be resized (with snap) in the sequencer without changing pitch (or it can change pitch too if thats what you want).

XT2 will pitch samples up/down automatically if sample is set to "resample" mode and you change the tempo in real-time (so the sample always fit to clip length).
