Dont know. maybe a demo issue or his mac issue. But who ever wrote that warning message (Logic programmer or OSX programmer) is totally retarded :x . It was like insulting the user :x Something like "mp3 files are not supported in demo" or "something is completely f**ked in your mac" would be 1000 times better

After th e installation I tried to import some audio to hear it in action. So I found an mp3 file and I dragged it in the arranging area. Logic started doing something (I thought it was decompressing the mp3) and after a while I saw the most clever message in my life: "WHAT KIND OF FILE IS THIS?". Options for the user to respond: just one. "Cancel" :bang: :bang: :bang:
I like how you didn't jump to any conclusions there and kept an open mind as to where the problem might actually lie

Still, as I asked for before, I haven't seen any info on this outside of remarks on KvR. What is the relationship between Magix and emapple these days? Why is Logic converting softsynths from a PC version of an old version of their software to Mac format, reskinning them and putting them in the latest version?

It just all seems a little bizarre given Apple's sheer determination to f**k over Logic PC users.

@ spaceman: I have no conclusion and I am not interrested in making one. I was just curious. But that message drove me mad. I am using software that is slightly more complicated than the average DAW and I know that a powerfull application could be frustrating for beginners. So I totally respect Logic. It was just that message dude ...

I have used Logic since 1.5, now on 7.1.1. In my opinion, it's never been better.

But we can't have a Logic thread without *some* kind of Puttebashing somewhere... ;)

isn't it a clever message? And the variety of options for the user to respond! Just one : "Cancel". Why is it asking then?

Hay, Jackson -- You might want to search for posts by theUDE or go to the forum at www.magix.com -- this issue has been discussed a lot. The upshot apparently is that Magix licensed/co-wrote the Logic code, and still has rights to distribute it, up to the release point where Apple bought EMagic, which is 5.5.4, I think.

So they're kinda frozen in time at that juncture. It's NOT something that Magix or Apple talk about officially, as far as I can tell.... 8)

Take care,

Damn it man, this is the "I Love Logic" thread. No dissent allowed

But yeah, Logic does occasionally pop up the most obscure messages. I swear I got one the other day:
"Warning: You are thinking about switching hosts because you can't justify the cost of a Mac just to run one piece of software. You have the following options: [www.apple.com] [Crash]"

jackson, it's not that Emapple is "using up" synths that were only present in Magix products, more to the opposite.
The Magix synths have allways been present in Logic, but back in the days Magix products were distributed by Emagic, so they could kinda license a stripped down Logic version including the synths.
There's an exception though: That FM synth, which has never seen the daylight in any Logic/PC version. My assumption would be that it has allready been in the pipeline when Apple bought Émagic, and probably some Magix developers have been involved in creating it, so they were entitled to include it in their MIDI studio.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.
