Both volumes in both formats are available downloadably, with a disc option for a small surcharge for the disc and s&h.LoopyFruit wrote:Hi

I am quite proud of our VFM, actually.
Yes, the drum loops are all played by me, on a slightly modified, older Slingerland 5 piece kit with a 24 inch bass drum.keyman_sam wrote:Did you play those funky drum loops manually (ac. drums)?
The next batch will be on a Ludwig Vistalite kit, using vintage miking setups (including the famous "Glyn Johns" method) in our new and greatly improved studio with (among other mikes) a Lawson L 251, a Royer R 121, and a pair of Neumann km184s; all going through killer analog circuitry to, get this, analog tape.
Can you tell I am excited?

The song club_hentai is killer. Just the type of stuff i love listening to. That song has pitched and programmed drums, no?

ReCycle is annoying as hell to work with.

Re: the drums
Pitched yes, programmed no.
All of the drums were made using a few rex2 loops from Endangered Rhythms in Dr rex, with a great deal of slice by slice mangling.

I have found none.Architeuthis wrote:ooh, what would you like to work with? i'd love to find a good replacement for recycle.herodotus wrote:Yeah, I am excited too.runagate wrote:Bitchin'!

Thing is, if you want to make Rex2 files, you need Recycle, because Rex is a proprietary format.

...come on tell us. im not talking about making rex loops, im talking about slicing loops in general.herodotus wrote:I have found none.

Well, i cant talk for him, but in general, stuff like liveslicer, shortcircuit, kontakt and many samplers can slice stuff.
I have recycle as well, and i use it to slice loops. Yes, its annoying as hell, but there's no workaround.
Thankfully, knowing the shortcuts helps me reduce the time i have to spend on recycle by more than half.
<edit> can someone PLEASE talk to props about giving their freakin licence to other folks so they can come up with better software slicers that can export rex?

Like that's going to happen. A better idea is for everyone to stop buying Propellerheads stuff and force them out of business for their ways. If they can't give rex liscences then create something better and so everyone will be like "screw rex, this is so much better, goodbye recylce", but reason users are screwed. There's too many to force props into doing something.keyman_sam wrote:<edit> can someone PLEASE talk to props about giving their freakin licence to other folks so they can come up with better software slicers that can export rex?

Oh, I get what you are thinking now...Architeuthis wrote:...come on tell us. im not talking about making rex loops, im talking about slicing loops in general.herodotus wrote:I have found none.
When I wrote that about 'being excited' and about ReCycle being annoying, I was saying that I was excited because I was finally finished making Rex2 files for a bit because ER2 was finally finished.
700 files equals a lot of time with an annoying wave editor.
Thing is, while I hate making Rex files, I do see the appeal in using Rex files.
I really don't have another slicer that I have gotten hooked on. I am afraid that I am too busy with the new band and recording and what not to try any new ones out.

Actually, as a concept I like ReCycle just fine.Architeuthis wrote: If they can't give rex liscences then create something better and so everyone will be like "screw rex, this is so much better, goodbye recylce", but reason users are screwed. There's too many to force props into doing something.
If it had a wave editor with decent scrolling that went down to the single-sample level I wouldn't have any complaints with it at all. (Well, more time sigs, maybe....)

A combination of ReCycle and Live Slice would be killer!
Maybe my granchildren will have such a thing. Because I don't see it happening in my life.
