But don't forget Rob -- I am giving you the signal report from China, so it may only be the case of narrow bandwidth to here as opposed to most other places.

There is no buffering here in Ireland and the stream comes from England so I'm reckoning it is a Chinese bandwidth problem.

I have to contact a few people to update their signatures and there a few sites that link directly to the stream rather than the site.

Unlike most stations there is no registering procedure, which makes it impossible to contact everyone, bout things just like this. But I have been told that friends of friends (ie people who would have no idea bout EMC or KVR) have been impressed by the fact that you just click on a button and it works (or doesn't.)

I am slowly introducing my personal collection of commercial tunes - these will not be requestable. My collection comprises mostly of Ninja tunes stlye jazzy and funky breaks. I believe I have a decent collection to start this project off. As to how it develops- not quite sure.

I will also be adding my Netlables catalogue which is also quite extensive 8000+ tunes. These of course are requestable.

In short. We have several obligations under the PPL regarding commercial tunes. This is to prevent any kind of organised ripping. If you are interested in the specific details I can post them.

These rules do not apply to music under the CC license or music directly submitted by artists regardless of whether they are commercial or not.

I would seriously recommend that anyone who is making their music available to download does so under the CC license agreement. Remember if someone downloads your tunes from the web THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED COPY IT AND GIVE IT TO A FRIEND unless you specifically give them that permission. This can be most easily achieved under the CC license.

Parallel Worlds - non_linear is superb!

I'm intruiged by the commercial tunes thing, too.
Does that mean you have to pay to have commercial songs just to have a noncommercial
licence?!

a) Parallel Worlds just gave me three of his/their albums, and there are quyite a few gems in there.

b) No not at all. We have been playing non-royalty tunes now for over six months without any need for a licence.

But I believed it would be way more interesting to hear both types side by side (and see if anyone noticed the difference- I reckon there is little or none).

That meant getting a ppl license which involves all kinds of clauses. These clauses do not affect the non-royalty stuff.

@Freeztar: I 'll post a few of these clauses this evening.

We were getting a few djs submitting mixes but we couldn't play them- now we can. I myself am a HUGE Solid Steel Fan and I wanted a chance to present my own mixes which include obscure but copyrighted material.

I've even emailed Ninjatunes to see if we can broadcast their older shows. No response - yet.

hello,

i would like to express my big thanks to Rob(techbot) who had been really helpfull during all the various "transfers" of my cd albums to his webradio.
(of course, by giving my 3 albums to techbot, does not mean at all that these album tracks are free. ok?)
the only really free tracks (8 tracks so far) are only the ones that do not belong to any commercially released album of mine.

EMC web radio is great, just because you can listen to all kinds of electronic music. that's exactly what i like!

I have tagged all my NInja tunes, jazzy breaks, Funky beats etc and added them to the playlist. Please don't request them. I haven't written the script yet to prevent them being requested.

Next is my somewhat limited Jazz,Funk and Classical collection and the netlabels Inc(which will take a long time so I will do it bit by bit.

THere is some more electronic (Banco De Gaia, Deep Forest, Orb , Willaim Orbit) which I will add as I go along.

I also have a bit of rock. Prog rock like Pink Floyd and Peter Gabriel, to me fall under our remit since they were/are experimental producers who use computers, cool keyboards etc.

But what about Led Zeppelin, Bad Religion etc?
Do they fall into the EMCradio stylee. I personally think not, but I'm open to persuasion.

Note I am not saying I don't like these acts at all at all,(I wouldn't have both the cds otherwise)
But I don't know if they fall under Experimental or Electronic as in (E)xperimental (M)usic (C)atalog.
