It's the same original session data. But, we have higher resolution files and also different formats like Rex, Apple Loops etc. In fact, it was titles like this, Bun E Carlos, Latin Groove Factory that made me want work with Qup. The main purpose of the collaboration actually wasn't to carry their products on esoundz. That was just a sort of convenience thing for people to have more to apply epointz to (or for people who still buy sample collections for hardware samplers from us). But, the real reason was to program and distribute the best of their sounds in modern formats like Rex, AppleLoops, Reason Refills, SampleTank etc.

In fact, R.A.W. is like a mix of the best of Qup grooves with a ton of diverse Sonic Reality grooves and riff material that has never been released.

Oh cool.

Sorry to take this off the Amplitube discussion, but had to ask. ;)

Hey Squids

Looking at AT2 screenshots,I see all 3rd party logos and even remotely hinting presets have disappeared.... except for THD.
Is there a reason behind this?
Is there a collaboration between IK and THD?

Without personally knowing all of the details of that (I know more about the Ampeg), generally YES.

IK is moving toward a greater "likeness" graphically when it has some connection with the company that makes the product being modeled. So, while AT2 generally "hints" lightly (more lightly than the pre-release graphics) at the products it has models of, something like Ampeg SVX or this THD is almost exact. This way you know what products might be done in closer cooperation with other companies... well, even if that is just a general perception one gets from it.

Hi Squids,

How easy is it to use just the effects in amplitube - ie. without the amps etc. I sometimes use just the effects sections in guitar rig 2 for manipulating synth sounds and where I don't require an amp sound as well - just wondering whether amplitube 2 can do this as well.

I'm not Squids, but at least in AT1 (and looking at that picture also AT2) has a bypass mode on each different processing... And in you can only use stomp effects, rack effects or the amp. So I guess it is quite easy to use only the effects on AT2.

But propably best if Squids or someone from the inside will confirm this.

I was thinking more of the modular way you can use effects in guitar rig - I always found amplitube 1 to be a bit more conservative in terms of getting out there sounds but I guess I will find out soon enough when my upgrade arrives.

AT1 was VERY conservative at least for stomp-style effects. In amp and distortion possibilities it was pretty diverse though. But, now AT2 is even more diverse on the amps but one of the biggest differences for ME is the fully configurable stomps and the nice selection of them. For many people (myself included) I would have paid the full price of AmpliTube 2 JUST for the stomp section! I can say that definitively because some of the single stomps I've bought even cost even as much as AmpliTube 2 itself. The vintage ones like Fuzzfaces and CE-1 pedals are highly collectible and not cheap! So, to be able to have as many of them as you want in a chain (always wanted to see what 4 Phase 100s sounded like in a row haha - behold the QUADPHASE!!!!) is worth a lot! Great tool kit to have as an engineer, sound designer, producer... it's NOT just for guitarists. It's not even just for getting traditional guitar tones either! It's a multi-effect unit as well. Absolutely.

So, yes you can bypass elements in the chain you don't want. Sometimes I think that even JUST the models of the CE-1 pedal or JUST the Phase 100 or Dynacomp or JUST the Tube Screamer would make a good plug-in itself. Looking at all of the gear modeled in AmpliTube 2 one could even say it is like getting 80 plug-ins in one. I am sure you can make the same argument about other multi-effects or guitar processing plug-ins too of course. That doesn't take away from the fact that it is fun to think of it that way! It can make one appreciate it more. I mean, why NOT look at it as a collection of diverse character effects? It certainly is that within the whole package.

...and I have still some of our firms accounting to do, since I always stop by at KVR... We should form anonymous KVR'ers to get some help and support...

There's basically the only way of looking at it..I intend to use this thing on every instrument at my disposal.

A smart man you are! Of COURSE right? Toyzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!! Manipulate, twist, warp, distort... It's an effect tool box above all.

I guess that is why I wonder sometimes why someone wouldn't want it. To me it is like walking into a vintage guitar amp shop (which I have done many times... like Norm's Rare Guitars in LA for example) and saying "Okay, I'll take that one that one that one that one that one that one that one that one..." about 80 times! Sure, it's not quite the same! But, even emulating that for 80 times less the price is certainly worth something! At LEAST some fun. And regardless of all that perspective at the end of the day it shapes your sound in many cool ways so if one is creative and likes to experiment they can have a blast with this!

Another dumb dongle question. I plan to have AT2, CSR in addition to Philharmonik, which I already have. Will all three licences fit on my iKey?

If I remember correctly, the Syncrosoft style key can hold something on the order of 100 licenses.

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r
