MOrbid angel hits no lower than Bb, Crowbar may have hit lower maybe drop A. BUt in all honesty it takes all the puch out, Of course I have tried it, and I realized what the f**k am I doing this low. I even went so low as G one time, Absolutley no articulation with that. ANd my samples are Standard C, whcih I now tune to standard Db, Perfect sound for me, and on the other sample I used a 7 string that was tuned to A. I personally don't tune that low anymore, Straight B on the 7 strings now , and all my guitars sound better now. I really think there is no reason to go that low anymore.voidar wrote:Is that why your band quotes Morbid Angel and Crowbar as their influences? From the samples it sounds quite low-tuned from where I am sitting.Killvehicle wrote:2 things drop A flat!!! COme on man thats just ridiculous. THere is nop reason a guitar should be that low, even a 7 string,, Takes all the punch and heaviness out.
For the record. I am usually in C-standard now because of the band. But that's just acouple of steps from Ab dropped.

I am sorry, I meant droped-Bb tuning. I must have mixed up A# and Bb.. But seriously, didn't you hear that? ;P
If you want any articulation below G you will have to use special instruments like Meshuggah or something. It's not really my thing.
I would like to be in B-standard myself as I own a 7-string, but the band is pretty fixed on C-standard.
Anyway, for that clip I just droped the 7 which naturally is Bb. Just something I had laying around.

I'm wondering what you use for preamp/DI?

The previous samples were run withought any processing, just using the basic presets.
My impression, nothing i heard of AT2 thus far, for high gain, has me impressed.
I would like to presume that when a company wants to showcase a particular product, they exploit it to the fullest. they use the finest of instruments, recorded and engineered in the finest of studios. This atleast gives us a glimpse of what a particular product can achive.
Taking the examples of the heavy metal sounds on the greenmachine site (been while since i last checked them out) or in the harware world, say the AX3000 samples on the korg site. Both are quite impressive, and want you to own that paticular device.
With AT2, all I hear is that it CAN do better. The company should showcase the best it's product can do...
It's all quite pathetic...

While i agree that i have yet to hear any clips of any chuggas out of AT2 that arent awfull, even the Line6 samples on their site suck. But get the POD into the hands of an able AE it sounds awsome.

Here is a quick metal benchmark from a GuitarPort i did.
I think it sounds pretty convincing, unlike AT2 so far.
Dont get me wrong, i want AT2 to beat it, then i'll buy it and sound better than before, it just doesnt look like its ganna happen.

Apart from the Plexi Head samples, everything just doesn't seem to work well in a mix indeed, just as A3ntar said. Might be impressive through headphones and in solo-mode, but in an actual tune, things will be way too muddy/bassy or whatever.

Different host for those having trouble with soundclick.
Just some more POD tone to use for high-gain refernce...

I'm not impressed.
I tried to put your samples through my custom built (by my friend) single recto and 4x12 close miced with one sm57 on the cone and another sm57 off axis > soundcraft preamp > emu 1212.
Click for a clip.
If AT2 can't do at least 90% of this sound then i'm not interested in buying it.
ps.I live in a flat and it was past 21.30 so i had only one try to place mics correctly and then had to equalize on my crappy headphones so it may not be a best recording of my amp.

Even if a bit muddy perhaps, this sounds quite more like it.Mutant wrote:

What do you mean by "custom built", btw?
