bmanic,

did you play with the program dependent release settings already? As I said in my previous post, they are capable of a very unique low-level compression type sound (ie. ratio 1.5, threshold at extreme). It does this when you start to push the limiter. I'm already quite fond of this sound. :D

I'm aware the effect is not truly compressive, but a psychoacoustic impression only. What makes it especially cool that I was able to ditch a subtle compressor in the mastering chain thanks to this.

I didn't try it yet, but I just know it'll work wonders in drum busses and vocals because of this as well.

I gave the MPL-1 a brief shot on my notebook (PC), it's quiet impressive and probably a must have for me. But as I'm on Mac for my daily work, can you say someting about when it will be released for Mac? And which formats?

Thanks!
The MPL-1 is expected to be released for Mac VST and AU in 1-2 month. After that we will release other plugins for Mac.

Torben

Good news for us mac users. Though disappointing that there is the wait. Still that is far better than just no hope!

bmanic wrote:All in all it's what I expected in the first place. A very good limiter with exceptional sound quality. Now, how's that for a pre-concieved negative bias, eh?
Not bad ;) If you want it more aggresive you could increase PDR amount and reduce release, smoothing and look ahead but it is not a clipper.

Torban...

I had a long one today, so I'm right knackered, but I gave your limiter a bit of a go before knocking off. It sounded very, very good in here.

Spectacular job, mate.

Hee hee! thanks!

Kilroy, I'd be curious to hear your full thoughts on this after getting more time in with it. $69...what a steal...

Wow this does sound good! I was a bit surprised to find no presets though. Elephant has a good set of presets that showcase what it can do very quickly.

Presets can be starting points for further tweaking, a simple showcase of the plug itself, and if there are a good collection of presets (as is the case with Elephant) it can actually save time when looking for a useful setting that can be used *as is* or with little tweaking, especially when using a new plug.

Not a major deal of course, but some basic presets would be nice. At least it is being looked into from what I have read here.

The GUI is fantastic. It's so good to see a GUI that has clearly legible text but looks fantastic. Stylish and modern. :)

It is a bit strange really that smaller developers like Torben are not yet snapped up by major distributors. I bought the GCO, GEQ and GMO plugs and they are so smooth and musical. You sometimes hear about this or that feature and how good a plug sounds but those plugs are simply great, try the demos. :D

Hopefully the MPL will draw more attention to the rest of Torbens plugs. 8)

If any of you are wondering how Torben treats his customers lets just say it is well worth it to get onboard and buy one of his plugs. :D

I just hope the likes of Torben and Aleksey can keep going and stay in business. They have certainly played a massive role in bringing down the cost of high quality plugs.

I wonder how long it'll be before Voxengo and Kjaerhus are the same company.

I also wonder how the hell I'll Pronouce the name then!!

Voxjaerhusengo?

Thank you :) We will make some presets in the next version.

Try increasing PDR amount (be sure it is on). If it is loudness you are after more PDR, lower Release Time, Lower Look-ahead and less smoothing are the way to go.

Great GUI, tempting intro price, too bad I'm already sorted for limiters.

Interesting. If it keeps the price down I am more than happy for things to stay the way they currently are then. Great plugs at great prices.
