I suppose you're out of argument, that or you have a so good reason to process silence that you'd prefer to keep it secret.

Again, I kindly request that we take this out of here...

Why don't you guys take this to PM or email instead? Regardless of who is ultimately right in this debate, you'll both look bad in the end for another big kvr-flamedown. ;)

I use GDI+ and PNG in my new host. Because GDI+ is slow, I use them in device inner user interface instead of entire framework of my host. The result is good. The visual effect is very nice with my audio GUI library.

Post

You know there are some things you can do to improve the performance of GDI+. Cant remember exactly what off hand, but i think making sure any images are fixed to the GDI+ internal format once loaded. So they dont have to be converted every time you use them. Maybe other things aswell.

It is a realy good library/api except for the speed issues. For modest sized plugs that dont do a great deal of painting its the best option imo.

I would advise Juce. I haven't used it (no C++ here), but the demo looks good enough, and one of our devs is using it.

Twit, it's an IIR. I can't just f**king turn off the process because an input goes silent.
You can. I do. If it's not self-resonant, after some time its memory will be zeroed out and you can stop processing it.
If it's self-resonant, it's not yet at the beginning, so you can skip processing until it's fed at least once - which means never, in my case.

Because your plugin WILL be processing silence for a big part of an average project. And it's not up to the user to disable it manually. But keep wasting CPU, it comes for free, right?
How about we give TSV his thread back and you and I go to war in our own thread? You start it somewhere. Go ahead. Liar.
AQ: calm down. you are the one being belligerent here, not gol.

your arguments consist of insults, not logical rebuts. what you have managed to do so far is make yourself look like an idiot and gol didn't do that, you did by your attitude towards him. just please calm down and be rational.

if he's wrong then prove it and stop doing so by choking his neck and thrashing him shouting expletives. tell him politely and then proceed to prove it privately via PM, because as you've said TSV's thread doesn't need this kind of negative attention.

Post

Please see the thread I suggested we move into above. Again I'd like to clear this out of here as TSV doesn't deserve it. There's some history here that precedes this thread that you're maybe not appreciating. All explained here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 11#1991611 So beat me up in there please.

Let's get back to TSV stuff: here is the latest free skin he submitted for our Widening Triple EQ product:

You can download the skin here:
http://software.bluecatonline.org/Skins ... in_TSVBlue

If you wish to learn more about our skinning language in order to submit new skins too, you can have a look at it here:
http://software.bluecatonline.org/Skins/

BTW we also work with persons who just send us graphics, and we can write the skin for them. Thanks again to TSV for his great skins!

That certainly has a nice look.

i have used flash to do some animation tricks before i found rlh knob renderer, the tweening in flash is killer, that with motion guides and masks, and there is quite a lot of power to be had. what i did was something like gol was saying, i used a pot with no tick mark on it, and drew the tick in vector in flash and tweened it's rotation. it worked out well.

i've not done a full interface using flash entirely though, could be interesting. is it possible to work with vst/audio stuff with a swf format? i know visualbasic can embed flash stuff and would assume c++ could do it too, and the communciation to the movies are now possible with remoting. hrm.. interesting.

do you have something in mind? have you done any yourself? i've done a bit of flash work for web clients but nothing super hip or trendy or anything. nothing like www.sytrus.com :)
