They all seem to default to channel 1, so that can't be it. Thanks for the tip though, i wouldn't have thought to check there. Oh, and no kidding about it being fixed, the majority of my synths are SEAndywanders wrote:Just a thought here re SE synths: Some SE synths will only work on one MIDI channel - usually channel 1.Reverse Engineer wrote:For the quick run i had, it's pretty good, doesn't work with any Synthedit synths (it will load them, but they're silent)....
Could that be the issue here..? I don't know and I can't try it out unfortunately (Macland here), just trying to help by throwing ideas in.
Anyway, I hope that gets sorted cos there's some great SE synths these days. Looking forward to getting back to PC ville too and trying this out...

I tried that before I posted here but it didn't work (i.e. nothing happened at all) - also after a restart - however the path was then replaced by all kinds of weird signs - and I guess the reason for that is a ' in my pat (German semicolon).hackbod wrote: It's actually in the preferences, but hard to see. If you go to the audio tag, the big list view there is all of the VST paths. Press the "+" button at the bottom to add a new path.
When Sequitur asked for the path at the first start it however accepted it (but then crashed).
I'm going to delete the .ini now for further testing.

hi eric, dianne! nice to see you 2 posting here! So Sequitur lives on, and only on windows, yeah well, it's obvious : (
Who did you gave the source too?
I have used Sequitur sporadically(?) and as eric probably knows (sorry eric) I both hated it and loved it. But now I've got used to it. I can't used it for 'live' recording because I don't know how to let it quantize my stuff the right way (I can play quite good but I don't know much about notes ; ) but maths is no problem : ) ) But I love the idea (and used it) of generating midi events with various mouse gestures and tools like velo raptor and echo's and flam.
I want to make more tools and/or adapt them to generate flam-like drum effects and not-so-random patterns for drums. Basically for drum and bass kind of breaks. I haven't figured out much yet but I can program in C a bit . You know I've talked to you eric, in the past, about the seeds, I'd also like make some improvements in that area because I get crazy of some of the select and needles play afterwards some tools do, but that's the way I work. Plus I want to get rid of some of the bugs like the looping bug (could be zeta's fault as well).
I'm learning C now, going on with OOP, C++ and BeOS/Zeta/Haiku api in the future, do you think you still want to make the BeOS source of Sequitur available?
I'm switching to windows eventually for my audio production becoming 'real'(but I keep hoping not having to) but I'm affraid of it's mess, viruses, trojans. I have to backup 40GB of music...
Nicely done, Sequitur and all. I hope you 2 get Sequitur to be less for programmers and more for chaotic musicians like me who have something in their head and need to get in into the computer fast and having fast results without having to concentrate on clicking and selecting a right track and all. So many times I have lost a recording because I wrongly selected a piece of a track and input, you should make a easy rec mode that just records anything it gets as input (and puts it somewhere).
Thanks : ))

Hmm no edit? Well just a note for the hackborn's (born to hack?); try "elektro plankton" for the nintendo ds. I think it's *THE* way to go for MIDI input by mouse or pen+tablet.

I just had a short time with the new beta, doesn't crash but I can't figure out how to select a VST folder? What are Dan's Audio and the other nice looking audio features?

Sorry to hijack this thread...
We've been a registered company over here pretty much since the beginning of Bidule and were at the time we asked for the ReWire SDK. I'm quite sure that was also the case for Raw Material Software. The "registered company" bit was already there 4 years ago so that's nothing new.aMUSEd wrote:How come Plogue managed to get Rewire then?

Oh yeah, it sounds like we aren't handling that character correctly. Very sorry about that. Could you try deleting all of the configuration files in Local Settings/Angry Red Planet/Sequitur run again (to go through the setup wizard) then exit the app and mail those files to support at angryredplanet.com?jens wrote: I tried that before I posted here but it didn't work (i.e. nothing happened at all) - also after a restart - however the path was then replaced by all kinds of weird signs - and I guess the reason for that is a ' in my pat (German semicolon).

no, sorry, I can't - you still need to improve your scanning routine.
- copier.dll * ( http://www.concretefx.com/Copier.zip ) crashes Sequitur
- on the next scan copier.dll crashes Seqquitur again and then again ad infinitum
I think it's the character again
I'm gonna make a few tests and report back here
* Don't waste your time on Copier. I think it must be the most buggy vst-plugin that has ever been written.Apparently it f**ks the memory up.

Yes, it is. I copied the folder which contains copier to another location and it went fine after the first crash.jens wrote:

Hi there, daniel here...I'm a part of the Angry Red Planet team. The 'Dan Audio' is an example of what I like to think of as an audio insert effect. (incidentally, Sequitur has the framework in place to support both audio and midi effects). If you add a node after a VSTi in the pipeline, you're basically inserting a bit of processing before the sound goes to your main outs. In the case of audio, these nodes can be internal sequitur effects (like Dan Audio) or a VST (like a reverb or delay). In the case of Dan Audio, I believe it just bumps down the volume by %30 or something (oooh, impressive!) And like I said, the same concept is applicable to MIDI.Newbie Brad wrote:I just had a short time with the new beta, doesn't crash but I can't figure out how to select a VST folder? Here's an example: If you create a new empty MIDI track, on the 'Output fx' mouse over beginning of the pipeline and right click...you should see a list that says "Echo, Eat Duplicates, Quantize, etc.." in addition to the MIDI devices installed on your system. From here if you add 'Echo' and immediately after add a VSTi (or a midi device corresponding to one of your outboard synths), the MIDI notes going to the VSTi will first get an echo applied to them. Select the Echo node and changes its parameters in the area to the left of all your tracks. Experiment with dragging from the right edge of the Echo node to the input of a VST in another track...you can see its possible to set up some pretty complex routing. You can also take a look at the routing in the screenshot on Sequitur's download page..the first two outs of Absynth are being sent to GlaceVerb.

In the BeOS days, we released extensively documented example nodes in case developers to write their own.
Anyway, long-winded response there, but it's a very fun project to be involved with and I get excited sometimes

Hi! Yes, unfortunately it just doesn't make any sense to develop on BeOS. We all miss working on the system, though.nutela wrote:hi eric, dianne! nice to see you 2 posting here! So Sequitur lives on, and only on windows, yeah well, it's obvious : (
I'd love to know what problems you have had so that we can improve this. What about the current quantize tool/filter is causing you trouble? What do you expect it to do?I can't used it for 'live' recording because I don't know how to let it quantize my stuff the right way (I can play quite good but I don't know much about notes ; ) but maths is no problem : ) )
Yeah this is definitely where a lot of our work has gone, and we have many ideas for even cooler things that we can't wait to implement. But I love the idea (and used it) of generating midi events with various mouse gestures and tools like velo raptor and echo's and flam.

Which looping bug is this? Sequitur has developed significantly since the old BeOS release; hopefully the bug has already been fixed.Plus I want to get rid of some of the bugs like the looping bug (could be zeta's fault as well).
The UI for recording has been improved since the BeOS version, and I think Eric still has more plans for it. Still, it is probably one of the rougher areas of the app right now, simply because most of us who currently use it are more oriented towards composition rather than performance. So many times I have lost a recording because I wrongly selected a piece of a track and input, you should make a easy rec mode that just records anything it gets as input (and puts it somewhere).
Hah! I just got a DS Lite. I'll definitely check this out.Well just a note for the hackborn's (born to hack?); try "elektro plankton" for the nintendo ds. I think it's *THE* way to go for MIDI input by mouse or pen+tablet.

no way I'm getting this to work. All that pops-up is the vst-menu*dpitchmen wrote:

b.t.w.: you need to support folders/subfolders - if a user has more than 224plugins (7rows*32plugins) he can't access all of the as they don't fit on the screen.
*if a soundcard's out is selected as the output of the track. If I set the track to a midi-output then I can access the menu you mentioned but then I can't access the vst-menu.

I splitted my response up in two posts. Here's the next part of 'no way I'm getting this to work'...
If I set the output to midi-out and add 'Echo', then set the track to audio-out and a a vst-synth then....
....well, where to start?
first of all the 'Echo' creates an icon. If I left-click it I get a menu on the far left. But obviously it's a midi-effect - it creates echoes of the note-on messages it receives. This of course has got nothing to do with splitting up/duplicating audio-streams. Now my wild guess is that Sequitur has both midi- and audio-'Echo' and so far I've only been stumbling upon the midi-'Echo' - right?
When I look at your screenshot I do not see any additional autput-fx icons apart from the plugins you mentioned. So how do I acess this 'Echo' you mentioned. I am toatlly puzzled. Am I just being plain stupid, or is it because the current beta has less features included than you think or what else is the culprit here?
I'm puzzled.
