I'm going to go make a drum synth called "German Tarnce: Nein, Oh, Nein!" and then I'll get sued by teeboy.anothercomposer wrote:oh god.. can we just name this thing so i can get my greedy little hands on this fabulous looking plug...

My naming suggestions for a "bash things with other things and make noises" plugin:
Bee Tit (just imagine the branding possibilities - the T-shirts could sell as well as the plugin)
Phlakaton (obscure National Health reference for any fans out there)
Perky (or possibly even Percy - though that works less well for non-English countries)
Skinthwacker
Hitter
Boo! (or, if used in 80's disco tunes "Boo boo boo")
Rumblestickskin
.... a career in marketing beckons
Regards,
Derek.

krunk
sorta combination of crash, thump, thrum, crack, etc - not any, but a morph of each. I believe it also means "wild" or "fun".
It's got the strong "k" thing going, too.
OK, i'll get my coat....

----Stranger things have been done, however not by any audio plug-in or whatever companies. Unless he names it "Monster" something, no one's gonna come knocking, the worst case scenario is a cease and desist, and even then, what are the odds they'd bother to do anything beyond that ?? However, the Impact in question (a compressor plug I believe) is from a company that could afford to bother him, and apparently rather than have to deal with it later, he's going to now, which is probably the best idea when faced with potentially even more hassle later._starcraft_ wrote:how can someone claim ownership of a word that's been in the english dictionary for centuries .

----If you don't think a word can be trademarked and "owned", then you obviously haven't been to Numerica, it's all for sale here.

Just popped in to say there's already a Perky in Jack Dark's Darkware.
It's mazotropic.
So obviously finding a name that's succinct that's not already been used is a tad difficult.
Besides, the longer it goes un-re-named the longer until the inevitable "Is there going to be a universal binary version of the plug with a different colored GUI?" questions begin.
