I wish they would just release the new VST SDK already. From what I've read so far about VST3, I'm not very impressed. Silence detection could be useful, but I don't use many plugs that don't already do this. Mactel support is hardly surprising, but at least it's there. Unless there are substantial changes under the hood, this is looking like more like VST 2.5.

Sorry if this is already covered...
I like the look of 4 - but heres my thing. I have SX1.x on my iMAC. It didnt meet the minimum requirments for 2 or 3... BUT my XP laptop could run 4 no prolems...
Anyone have any info on the €199 update being platform specific???

In the PDF they mention "AudioWarp realtime pitch shifting with formant preservation for natural realtime audio transpose" as a new feature, although I don't know how graphical/melodyne-y that is.

I for one think the update sounds quite okay. Finally drag and drop of fx, fx only processing audio when there is a signal and at least in the pool per clip fx seem to be possible (see here http://steinberg.net/1017+M52087573ab0.html). They could've enhanced automation more to my taste but then again you can't have everything. At least it seems like the Studio version will still be fine for me.ttoz wrote:reorderable drag and drop for inserts finally but no mention of copy and paste, no per clip fx, no expanded freeze/. hmmmmm
Cheers, Jo

I've seen in the PDF file of the new features that MPEX3 is used for offline rendering, but for realtime what is used ?
I can't find informations about MPEX3 ! Only about MPEX2 on the official MPEX websiste, and on the page news it says that MPEX4 is coming pretty soon !
On Cubase SX 3, the AudioWarp algorithm doesn't sound good, even the MPEX one ! So now that iZotope has released Radius and offering licensing like in Sonar 6, I'm a bit disapointed you know because in my view it's the best sounding algorithm, better than MPEX or DIRAC.
And now with MPEX4 coming soon and MPEX3 being used I'm a bit confused...
And these Embracer and Monologue synths, they don't deserve to be in this release, the design of these hasn't even been updated !

True but with them great new plugins built into Cubase you won't ever need any other plugins anymore.ttoz wrote:Josmoker wrote:

EXCLUSIVELY for vst3 format only though.

Hey now, about time! I had the pleasure of trying a preview version and I was really impressed by the stuff they've done with this update. While it may or may not look like much on the surface you quickly realize how important this update is once you actually work with it. The soundframe browser is excellent and will really change the way people handle preset banks. Dunno how much I'm allowed to say but it really is a good update.
