Here's my attempt to make Xhip sound like a SCI ProOne.
For those of you who don't know the original was pretty much ProOne all the way except for the drums.
Which incidently is what sounds the least like the original. Everything is Xhip. Apart from the snare which is eq'ed and has a touch of DaTube on it the only effect i used was Cubase's Roomworks which is on the Snare, the lead synth and the wroom sound.
Don't know much about a SCI ProOne but got it sounding pretty nice there jupiter.

Me? I love the expressive potential of xhip: http://myles.debastion.com/sonance/mp3/sroloc2.mp3

When a synth creates sounds that are statements are hold their own with no need for layers of other sounds to make a tune sound musical.. well that's when it's magic.. :)

Spot the preset I fell in love with.. :P

Oh and I like the designs of the website and the synth GUI, however they require a programmers logic for easier navigation / programming imo.

is there a typo in that link?
if anyone wants to try sharing mp3s or other files and doesnt have webspace of their own, they are very welcome to use mine for anything xhip related (even remotely!) at http://xhip.cjb.net/upload

Post

Sorry, slight typo, fixed now. My bad :)

Most of the sounds on "Don't go" come amazingly close. Too much reverb, but amazingly close. Nice work jupiter8 :D.

Yeah keep those mp3s coming.
Jupiter8 : kickass remake/cover, having much fun listening to it.
Spuddle : cool, high quality sounds there.

Nice sounds guys!

One xhip question though...

Is there no fine tune control for OSC 1 in xhip? Maybe I'm not seeing something, cause that seems like quite an oversight. When i detune 2 oscliators, I like to detune them both an equal amount above and below the pitch.

There is none. There's a global tune though in the control page so you can detune Xhip say -4 cents then detune Osc B + 8 cents and it will be the same.

That seems like more flipping between tabs than necessary. It would would be a slow down having to flip between different tabs every time I wanted to detune oscilators.

Aciddose, any chance of making tune controls for OSC 1 on the OSC page? :)

Thanks for making this great little synth!

One other thing, I find my self wishing there was a hypersaw mode for non-saw oscilators (you can sorta do this with just normal unison, but you can't control it per oscilator), and a PWM (or phase modulation) on non-pulse waveforms (similar to Reason's Subtractor). I have found phase modulation to be incredibly powerful on all sorts of waveforms! I suppose those two things would take quite a bit more work though...

Thanks again for making this thing free! :)

PWM is there for all waveforms.

"PWM is there for all waveforms."

(disclaimer - I'm always using the latest wip/beta version)

Width seems to be implemented on all wforms except staircase (nor the pcms).

However the pulsewitdh does'nt do what you expect it to with the exception of pulse. On triangle it shifts into a sine. And on ramp it sounds like a supersaw.

I was a bit bummed to find that out at first but on the other hand i was glad that sine and supersaw was implemented as they come in handy.
