Herodotus, any chance of posting some demo mp3s soon? I think something like a 3 minute continuously mixed "collage" of the samples might be quite cool. :)

And before anyone asks, yes I know they're only $5 - which is insanely reasonable - but I'd like to have some idea of what they sound like first!

Well, there is this one, from SIGHUP (that's kvr's resident dronemeister shamann).

And there is also this sampler package.

More demos will become available over the next week.

Here is my take, 3 instances of Savihost running Wusikstation inside and some mouse fidddling, nothing planned, contains some nice and probably bad parts. :D

Good fun!

I could not make something like that. Sound design of this sort is a mystery to me.

Thanks.

If each loop were normalized to, say, -1 db, the ones with just brushes on cymbals would be as loud as the ones with a bunch of snare/rimshot thwaks.
That makes sense, especially for looped drums. Synth samples I think of more like individual drum samples. You most likely will be using them in a sampler where you will shaping the volume and dynamics inside the instrument.

Some interesting results with these in Absynth, though that synth is still largely Terra Incognita to me.

Herodotus, did you get my PM? I don't want to have something in return in case you're worried about that.

Thanks for the samples, chaps. Good stuff, indeed. Might have to get my credit card out... :)

No, no worries, just a nasty head cold and about 50,000 emails!

But I have finally sent you a pm in return.

Thanks!

:D

You are welcome!

Thank you.

So far I've done 32 Absynth 3 presets using these sounds. Only one includes a sound not in this collection. :D

Nice stuff. It made me want to listen to the main theme of Michael Mann's Heat again!

Cool!

I look forward to hearing the eventual results. :)
