i didn't test it up to now, but no doubt about it, it will be great, as everything you do ... but ... well, lets say it like this:
imo _you_ are the _last_ one who needs to switch from synthedit ... :)

shhhhhhhhh!

switching from synthedit means he can make a mac port... please say nothing :-)

Actually this is the main reason why I decided to switch from SE.

Perhaps I wouldn't have never started making plugins if it weren't for Synthedit and the fab' Jeff.

Synthedit is great, using the SDK you can virtually do everything you want. My latest 2 or 3 plugins were interely made with custom modules taking care of the DSP part, while SE was just used for the interface and all the rest. So I thought this was the right moment to attempt the making of VST plugins without using SE.

And, yes, now I can think of porting my plugins to Mac, but first I need:

1. to buy a Mac
2. to convince myself that buying a Mac wasn't a waste of money
3. to get used to the Mac
4. to learn the Mac
5. to find out how to compile plugins on a Mac

I'd like to skip point 1 but I fear it's necessary...

Really? Where can I find more info about this?
For me, would be better to spend 500 bucks for a MacOSX running on my PC rather than spending 1000 for a Macbook or 1200 for an iMac.

Ah... yes, I had to delete the file because I found a bug after uploading it... Now I'm trying to fix it. This is causing a loud POP in some hosts and can be dangerous for the speakers (or ears).

Post

Ah, no probs mate :)

File is back on line now, and is safe :)

Megakazbek: I owe you an apology, I don't know for which strange reason but the loud click you were talking about, that I hadn't never heard coming out of this plugin, at some point has become to come to life. This is the bug I found after uploading the new beta. But something doesn't correspond to your description. It wasn't related to aftertouch. And it only appeared in EnergyXT, not in Cubase4 or SAVIhost.
Anyway, I've found a fix now.

Computers are worse than women sometimes...

I'm glad you're doing a Mac version -- AU would be best.

Also, a Mac Mini is $599. Is it worth the trouble to work with a hacked PC version of OSX?

Wow, I'm excited. MrRay mki is awesome, and I can't wait to see try out the new version. I'm too much of a moron to beta test, but I will gamma test the hell out of it.

Guido,
MrRay mkII is excellent! It fixes my one and only complaint about mkI, which was the pops in the audio when using the sustain pedal (which I assumed was fixed by having 73 individual voices).

I would like to offer a couple of minor suggestions:

- Since the stereo tremolo is iconic to the Suitcase model, you might consider having the Modulation Wheel mapped by default to the Tremolo Width.

- When Mod Wheel is mapped to Tremolo Width, there is "zipper" noise when moving the wheel. I think this can be fixed by buffering the tremolo change (it doesn't need to change instantaneously, but it should change without any artifacts). I point this out, because I am one who changes the Tremolo Width CONSTANTLY during performance.

- When the synth is playing, changing the Phaser Width from zero to any other setting causes a pop in the audio. I think a keyboardist is used to being able to switch his Phaser on and off without a loud pop, so that should be fixed.

- The two components of the pedal sound--the raw "harp" noise and the mechanical noise of the damper hitting the tines--are wonderful and really add to the realism. I note, however, that in the transition between the first and second component, there is sometimes an audible pop. You can find this pop easily if you just push the pedal up and down quickly (while playing no notes). Everything but the pop sounds pretty much exactly like a real Rhodes. I mention this, because I pedal A LOT, so this artifact was noticeable in my test recordings.

Overall though: WOW. This is the best lightweight Rhodes ever. I will buy it certainly when you release it, and I anxiously await a Mac version.

Thanks!
Scott

Specs: Sufficiently modern PC, MOTU 424-PCI, 128 sample buffer, tested in Cubase 4

Guido,

Maybe you would want to offer MrRay mkII for presale and give people that purchase a pre-release, or beta copy a price break? Just a thought.

Scott, great comments, mate - couldn't agree more about the tremelo in particular, and the rest in general :)
