Isn't this still vaporware? When are they actually planning on having this product shipping? 2 years from now? When they don't even list it as a product on the company's website, and no music dealers list it as a pre-order product, it's not very encouraging.

Well just don't commit or get your heart set on using it on any projects until it's been released and you'll be fine.

I must say that I am pretty pissed and disappointed with Gforce. I bought the original Mtron when it was new and then some years later I lost CD1. They checked and said they couldn't find that I had bought any. I offered to send my original box cover as proof or the manual and they didn't bother to reply. What a bunch of nimwits.

After I purchased M-Tron and all the individual disks, I found out that they had lost the support of the original Mellotron company when they refused to follow their advice on how to properly prepare the Trons before sampling them. That's why the samples on the first few disks aren't up to snuff. Still, I'll probably end up being a sucker and buying M-Tron Pro too, although I don't really see any use for the "features".

Really? They sound great to me. In fact, I own all the Gforce instruments and I must say they're some of my favorites.

My favorite M-Tron sounds are the MkII sounds. Those are pretty decent. Many of the others are patchwork quilts, so I use the Pinder CD or some other sample set where possible. I hope the new sounds on M-Tron Pro come from a better maintained source.

The only other GForce software I own is VSM. I think they did a really nice job with it. I was initially only interested in the Freeman samples, but I've come to like several of the others as well.

So, you weren't in their database (ie you didn't register it), and have lost either your CD and/or any serial numbers/receipts - and you expect them to give you another copy?

Seriously people, register your software, and look after your stuff - your investments are protected that way.
If you were registered, I'm sure it wouldn't have been a problem. The amount of people who try it on is amazing (I'm not suggesting you are one of them), but when you consider anyone could get a box off their mates or out of a bin, and try and blag a free copy without any registration or proof of purchase, what is a company to do?

Sometimes people deserve the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes it's just too suspicious to do it. So while you may be annoyed at GForce, you should really be more annoyed at yourself for losing all your software and registration details, imo...

If there is one thing I have earned a whole lot of money on, it is business.
I have managed clients at AT&T Global Network with total contract values probably exceeding this industry. It is what I am trained at, how to manage customers and business. I realize that you can't expect top performance management from small companies, but to treat a customer properly isn't that hard to do. This is feeble thinking. They have my name in the files since I used my credit card. To do a database search would take a minute. They probably don't or didn't have any on the computer so they didn't bother with looking it up.

Your reasoning is faulty and weird. There is proof, my credit card details, the tracking of shipments etc - and the other CD's. They shipped directly to my adress and can't check where they sent it? This is nonsense.

I did register the oddity which I bought pretty much at the same time and I was surprised that they didn't find Mtron there because I had downloaded updates. I think I got lost in a database swap, I can't see how I could have downloaded updates otherwise.

Audiomidi last Xmas had the Gforce M-Tron for $69. I think that's quite a bargain to replace a lost copy as I paid many times more for the M-Tron and the expansion disks when it first came out. For that $69 bucks, you get all the expansion content included. So it was incredible. Perhaps this Xmas they'll do a deal like that again.
