Personally I thought your choruses were good. Sure there are little technical things here and there, but I think in general your overall creativity and musicality comes through. The last one was the best though, so I used it like you said.

i messed around some more today though and came up with a chorus that's more how i like to play rather than trying to be curtis fuller or some hard bop guy (not that there's anything wrong with hard bop). i also tried some fake bass comping under your solo, though i really know anything about how real bass players comp. just thought it'd be fun. so here's my new and improved version:

Hahah, I like it! Nice solo, and the playing under the bass solo sounds cool.

yeah, that's a good one! They were all good ones, that's a great one.
I guess I could do a couple choruses comping behind the bass and trombone solos with the original backing, that'd give us one more or less finished version.
Still getting some downloads on the backing. So who's next?

Yes. That's a human ear, all right.

Hey Jeff, I like your playing of the melody, but maybe it could be used as the head out rather than simultaneously with the guitar playing the melody? Or maybe that was what you intended?

yeah, that's a good idea. i could do the head out and beboop could also replay the melody and/or solo sparsely around it. i'm okay with whatever.Gregjazz wrote:Hey Jeff, I like your playing of the melody, but maybe it could be used as the head out rather than simultaneously with the guitar playing the melody? yeah, sounds good. lot of things I should have done differently about getting this thing going, but hey live and learn. For one thing I stepped on the third chorus of the backing with my solo, didn't occur to me at the time how that would make things awkward to edit later.
But head / guitar solo / bass solo / trombone solo / head out, that'll still work.

Bass solo could be after the trombone solo... we'll see. Adding choruses isn't too difficult.beboop wrote:yeah, sounds good. lot of things I should have done differently about getting this thing going, but hey live and learn. By the way Beboop, just wanted to say I love your guitar playing, especially the solo in this. You play a lot of really melodic, creative lines that almost become part of the melody of the tune. I love listening to a solo and hearing parts that are truly both inspired and inspiring. Beautiful!

I can do this, unless someone else wants to. When you get a chance, Jeff, could you post your latest trombone take solo track?
So what if we have a piano solo after the guitar solo? Then Jeff's trombone solo, then maybe that one chorus of bass solo.

hey Gregjazz, thanks for the kind words! Yeah I like your playing too
My wife and I moved way out in the sticks a few years ago, kind of a dream of ours for a long time, and in most ways we've been really happy with the decision.
But one thing I really miss is having good players to interact with -- I can't tell ya how great it is to have discovered you guys and have a chance to play a little -- even if it is at 28.8kbps on a good day
