That's the problem. "Music business" is an oxymoron.eduardo_b wrote:Well, they know what they like, and that's the bottom line in the music/entertainment business.taijiguy wrote:What do music consumers know about music? That's like implying that Budweiser is a superior beer just because it outsells all other brands (in the USA). Of course if your only in it for the money...eduardo_b wrote:You guys are living on planet KVR. Find me one instrumental in the top 100 sales of any week in the last decade or two in the real world. Music consumers buy vocals and lyrics. Is that a problem?

Unfortunately it's only an oxymoron outside the music business. Inside it, it's just...music business...taijiguy wrote:That's the problem. "Music business" is an oxymoron.

Sorry if someone has already pointed this out... But isn't singing about expressing an emotion and a state of being? That some vocalists have confused showmanship with ego doesn't alter the fact that singers are the ones who transport us to places that a lot of great instrumental music cannot. The combination of words and music is simply magical and can create a huge emotional impact. Maria Callas with all of her Divaness will always be remembered for being a conduit to an amazing universe of feeling. Not forgetting Paul Rodgers_Mary J Blige_Terry Reid_Chris Youlden_John Lee Hooker_Marvin Gaye_Sam Cooke_Aretha Franklin_Otis Redding_Elvis Presey_Frank Sinatra_Adele_Amy Winehouse and a million other f*cking unbelievable singers. Without them all what we would we sing on the way to work

You've got to be kidding. Over-rated shouter who can't pitch a note to save her life. Her lyrics read like the journal of a confused 12 year old.

Maybe, just maybe you could inject a little more grace into your reply. if you don't like Mary J Blige fine. It's a shame how you need to dispose of your latent aggression in this way. We are all of us doing things that not everyone is going to agree with or think cool but dissing others in this way is just not really showing you in the best light. If she injects a little more talent into her performance, I'll inject a little more grace into my replies. Can't say fairer than that.kelvyn wrote:Maybe, just maybe you could inject a little more grace into your reply.

So you always wait for other people to do the right thing before you do? I've been waiting years for her to do the right thing and stop 'singing'.kelvyn wrote:So you always wait for other people to do the right thing before you do? Ok! This is just getting silly. Enjoy whatever it is you enjoy and have a good one. Didn't mean to offend and of course you are entitled to your opinion.
