Moderators, can we institute a new rule where when an a/b guessing game like this gets posted the OP has to give up the answer by the 4th page?

No, definitely not a Juno-106, I just wanted to mention that I'm an old dude that has played with many synths for years, both analog, digital hardware and software. And guess what I'm not sure which is which.

As a teenager I have played for hours in the local music store with the Jupiter-8 and Matrix-12 until I was kicked out before the store closed in the evening ... but my money was only good for the Juno-106. But it had MIDI! And a tape interface for patch storing, wow!

i vote he never tells. it'll become folklore, a tale handed down from father to son, an urban legend for the post-intertube generation.

Well, they both sound really great and very rich and warm to me. But the second mp3, I think the filter sounds squelchier and more alive and electric, so I'll say:

#1 digital
#2 analog

very eager to hear the final results!

I don't care which one is analog and which one is digital. #1 sounds better to me, but it could be simply a difference in EQ. The filter response of #1 is much better than #2.

The two tracks are not entirely comparable. FLAC is better than mp3 for A/B tests for a number of reasons also, but mp3 is probably fine for this particular comparison, however valid it may be.

I don't particularly like neither of these sounds.
But I'd say, 1-st one is analog (but it's probably not a synth I'd buy, sounds like maybe it's Andromeda), 2-nd is digital.

the first one really sounds like an Andromeda. I know you said mid80... but that's is what it seems to me. And if I'm wrong well...no... I will not sell my A6 for a cd filled of 1 and 0. Noway.

edit: looks like 2 is cypher. My other new favorite VA. Guess I haven't gotten to know it well enough to pick it out.

I guess I should have written "Cheater ". That's how it was meant.

I'm a bit astounded how many people get this wrong. Even the designer of the VSTi in question admits that the good old analog synths still sounds a lot better.
