What is the best DAW for Windows?

Seems to me Dewaine's comment added a lot to the conversation. People are giving you perfectly good advice. If you don't want to take that advice, at least refrain from taking snippy little pot-shots at those who offered that advice.
If petty sniping is all that's left then there is no conversation and no need for the thread to continue. Take it where you want. G'night.

Oh contraire; it's the best advice you'll get.lagavulin16 wrote:This post does not add anything to the conversation.Dewaine wrote:Without a doubt the best DAW for windows is the one you buy, and then actually take the time to learn to use. I agree, great advice, and would only add that it is good luck to also have rudimentary knowledge of a smaller recording app or two that can be used in a pinch, due to to rare but inevitable compatibility glitch that will appear right when you test your great new santasynth, only to find it is locked out of your DAW, which is a month or two older than the newest synthyellowfever wrote:Oh contraire; it's the best advice you'll get.lagavulin16 wrote:This post does not add anything to the conversation.Dewaine wrote:Without a doubt the best DAW for windows is the one you buy, and then actually take the time to learn to use. I think this sticky at the top of this forum says it all. It's been there for three years.

Between my Mac and my Windows 7 Machine I have numerous DAW's. Generally speaking "A DAW is a DAW" - they all do basically the same thing. I agree - get one - learn how to use it and you can have a great recording studio on your desktop. Reaper does what the high-dollar ones I have do - I spent literally thousands on my "hobby" and Reaper for $60.00 does everything I really need.
Now the proud owner of an avid 11 Rack, Running Pro Tools 10.3.3 - for me it's heaven!

people get on and make music others look for any excuse not to, I have been and am guilty of that one at times; a good majority of these best posts come from people who want something instantly gratifying,Maincat wrote:I think this sticky at the top of this forum says it all. Cubase, Reaper, Logic, Pro Tools, Sonar ... These apps are deep they take time to learn but once you get start getting somewhere with them they will Reap
Studio One and Ableton are the two from my experience that are good products to start the music production journey with they have fairly easy menus; but still have advanced features when you look deeper.
the question should be what host am I likely to be able to work with given my following understanding .......
a note to the OP that comment isn't directed at you its a generalisation...
back to the Black Friday bargain bonanza
edit forgot Sonar .. found that nearly as hard to use as Reaper

The answer was PreSonus.
I've spent many hours today getting Vista fully up to date, 64 bit drivers for MOTU working, my midi keyboard, Presonus install, and have been downloading all the plugins I've always wanted to check out.
Bootsy's certainly seem worth the hype.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I tried them all and for loop based electronic music I like FL Studio. The audio editing isn't the best but I never record live instruments so it doesn't matter.
I tried Ableton Live but it seems to be more audio based than midi. Cubase seems nice too but it's too expensive.

Where are you based? koolkeys is selling Cubase in the Marketplace for a great price. It's an edu version, but Steinberg allow transfers to non-edu and there are no differences with the edu and the full version.generalstargazer wrote:I tried Ableton Live but it seems to be more audio based than midi.
