I would also like to see the SuperCore LOGO tidied up. The shape is fine but the fill colours are muddy and messy looking.

I like the more subdued grey-tones skin, but the variety of choices is a good thing too! I agree that a little more work on the logo would be nice. Not a big point in the overall scheme of things, but still - looks a little like a turd sitting on a Mercedes dashboard!

OK that's a bit extreme, but seriously - the fill could use some help to "sit in the mix" of these more refined skin designs, IMHO.

Good to see the project coming together! All the best!

The top line of the main rectangle elements are not at the same height, a little visual stairstep that draws the eyes briefly away from the work at hand, much like the difference between walking in a hallway, compared to approaching a porch or threshold, slight, but real.
Cheers :)
updated the image above I corrected that stuff when I was able to get back to it, should be better now and less distracting. Although when viewed as a whole the PB/MdW seem to be a distraction now, I added a green sqr on the panning indicators to try and keep the eyes toward the center but for me my eyes keep going to the PB/MdW objects, I'll have work that latter.

Its valid, that slope on the three that the font has gets on my nerves I just have not been able to get to it yet.

Since he really is trying to make ammends, I am going to work with him ONE LAST TIME with his white photo-real skin.

He really does seem genuine ad we may have that skin wrapped up soon. So, this skin will be included as well - maybe . . .

I hope it happens.

Mike
Wow. Now here's a stance I completely disagree with. :o

Not only has Scott admitted to using warez, he is also quite unapologetic about it too. But lets just sweep that under the rug shall we, because "he does nice work."

Also, as long as it's not your product he's warezing it doesn't matter right? But he is free to warez everyone else's? :? :help:

Personally I think it's a bad business move, choosing to align yourself with him. But we'll see if the other potential customers feel the same way when it comes time for them to possibly part with their money.
I guess I'm just too damn nice - or I like the skin THAT much (and most of it is already paid for anyway).

Mike
Quoted for posterity.

I am disgusted with your attitude Mike. You are saying then it is fine to use stolen software if you like the end result or if you pay for it.

So its okay then for people to buy those cheap versions of NI's Komplete off Ebay because you are paying something for them?

I like the sound of Reaktor THAT much that it would be okay to use a pirated copy then?

I will certainly never buy products from a company that condone the use of warez. Watch out for the Karma Police because if Supercore ends up being warezed you certainly aren't in a position to complain about it.

Now that designer was banned for using warez AND for not keeping his part of a business agreement. Now the first thing may not be open for discussion, but the last part made me think.
Does KVR moderators intend to take sides in any business disputes between kvr members?

Hello Mike (and everyone else) . . .

I feel that I should add my thoughts to this thread as I was recently contacted by Mike with a view to working on some GUI designs.

Firstly I must say that, despite getting straight back to you Mike, I have not yet heard anything back, so I wonder whether or not you actually received my PM?

I would also like it to be known, without mentioning any other names, that I own all of the software that I use including the complete Adobe CS4 and some great 3D software such as NewTek Lightwave 3D.

Oh, and I would never dream of being (or ever have been) unprofessional in my working practices or relationships with my clients. Reputation is everything!

I am a designer with many years experience (sad to say that I'm in my late thirties) in all manner of media including print design, illustration, 3D modelling / animation and much more. I have been working as a freelance designer with my own company, Chimera Creations, since 2004.

As well as being a designer I have been a musician for many years (I even spent a year in the late nineties working as a composer / sound designer for a computer games company) and I have been using DAW's and software instruments / FX for a few years now.

And finally, I'm here if anyone wants to give me a go . . .

Thanks for reading,

do you have a webpage? I dont see a www.

I think you mean name and not names. Only once person was called out and placed under the microscope.

It is also on this issue that I feel I'd like to add my own thoughts. What happened with Scott happened, I will not give my opinion on that. However, what does concern me and the presentation above offers me an opportunity to give my 2cents on it. The event that happened around Scot is of a concern to me, will I have to prove my licenses for all my software, do I have to state it, would I be banned if it was suggested that I do not, will the burden of proof be placed on the correct shoulders, and if it was suggested that I didn't would I want to prove myself? Personally I know what I would say to such an accusation and it is generally analogous to the middle finger, even if I posted a picture of me standing there with my box, computer and music gear, and jewel cases some would argue that I only photoshoped it in, maybe even finding a picture of a box and demonstrating how I am lying. I think the general working hypothesis/assumption of anyone developing a plug and looking for a gui is that the designer is working legitimately whether they doing the project for free or otherwise, I feel this is a correct view to have. Perhaps someone may feel that is a foolish stance, I only say lets face it even companies that do pro work and are making a living from doing gfx and support a payroll are not using a legit license, it regrettable, pathetic, and completely WRONG and will not proved anyone an excuse in my mind, but it is the truth and I doubt anyone would admit to it, expect in Scotts case, many here have mention they have used the 'name' that should not be spoken but changed as time went on or arguments that made sense to them, conditions changed etc and now are legit, do we give people an opportunity to change or not, perhaps this depends on if they have lied in the past and it can be demonstrated they are in full knowledge of having deceived others to cover/hide their crime. It is human nature to try and benefit oneself at the expense of a another this has proofed for at long as we have existed, even entire books are dedicated to trying to argue a means of suppressing in human systems of social life, software companies have had to invent many systems of control to try and contain it. As the poster above says reputation is everything, it's the only way to demonstrate that you are better then the primitive base status of human behavior/ethics that many people live by today. If trust is broken that is a different story, but reputation are so easily stained and diminished.

Depends on whether you post something like this:

You dont want me to work for you because i download warez? I DONT CARE..
I think 112db might care... or any legitimate company that might've wanted your work.
and why is that? tell me 1 reason of what have the warez thing has to do with guis for plugins.....

OMGGGGGGGGG
This isn't a "suggestion," it's between admitting and bragging about using pirated software. There's worse, but I won't rehash that yet again. I'm really hoping this thread won't get derailed like all the others.

If it does, you have my permission to lock it up and throw away the key or delete and trash it.

Personally, I'm tired and will not be posting anything more about SuperCore until i'm ready to release it. I see no need to defend myself or my actions - everything I do is above board and 100% honest.

Mike
I dont want it to go OT either, I said what I felt needed to as someone who's main focus lately is doing gui's for plugins. I will be returning to topic in my next post with progress on the gui I've been posting. And I would not like the thread to be locked as some of the suggestion people have made are helpful to me and also help me keep track of things I keep forgeting to get to, the more input people offer the more I know about what they would like to use and the more it I can input to making a gui they want to use, read above before I posted my OT thoughts I have been incorperating and adjusting based on peoples input.

if this thread is locked I will continue to post my progress for the gui on my flickr account and feel free to pm me with suggestions and comments, I will do my best to read them and respond them.

I think this could be sorted simply by removing what looks to me like the "plastic wrap" effect on it. It would be better without it I think. The colour, grading and bevelling are all fine... he says hoping things will get back on topic now.

Post

@Hlis: I doubt it will get locked, just would rather it would stay more on topic. My point is that you won't get called a warez user and asked to show proof of ownership because you haven't bragged about being a warez user. Your concerns are, to me anyway, unnecessary. Legitimacy is assumed -- it's the default.

Mike,

I have sent you the PM again so be sure to look out for it! I thought I would let you know here as well just in case there are any problems.

Why is there no function to send PM's immediately? They only seem to go automatically later on . . .

:?: :?: :?:

Post

All right everyone.

The debate is over.

I talked with a very good, honest person with inside knowledge of all of this mess that pre-dates me and I found out some stuff I will not talk about, however, now knowing what I know, the following is true:

First:

The LOGO goes. It's gone. I need a new one, so let's have a contest:

Any logo artist who wants to, come up with a new SuperCore logo and the winner will win $50 (the money will be sent via paypal). The runner's up will all receive SuperCore and an expansion of their choice (when they come out).

Contest starts today and ends next Saturday at noon, EST.

Second:

I will not be dealing with SK again. It really is over. All communications have been severed and his work will NOT grace SuperCore or ANY of Hardcore Harmonics or Supersynths products.

That sub-topic is now officially closed. Back to skins . . .
