She is Chris Whitley's daughter, and the piano man is Daniel Lanois, of course.

Both great! He really likes those drums without the snare. Didn't he do that Robbie Robertson album with "Somewhere Down The Crazy River" with Manu Katche? Great drum sound on that track. No snares.standalone wrote:She is Chris Whitley's daughter, and the piano man is Daniel Lanois, of course.

Yeah, I remember more than twenty years ago trying to replicate that sound with my Yamaha RX7Squids wrote:Both great! He really likes those drums without the snare. Daniel Lanois is the "illuminati" in a hat in that video.

I have a super killer surprise involving extra STm kits for this group buy. I just confirmed it and it is SWEET! But I won't start really talking about it until we get closer to the final price. We're already almost at 50 though. Some people just know what they want and jump on it straight away. Others wait but if you know you're going to get it then it is better to join sooner so the price goes down. You're going to love this surprise. I am confident you will all find a way to earn it... that is as long as we all still love participating in group buy threads! This one is sleepy quiet... compared to the last one which had over 3,000 posts and close to 200,000 views. Got a long way to go! But we can do it. I really want to share these surprises because I think they are just going to be awesome! I feel like I have a hot potato... but I will keep it secret even though I am not very good with secrets!!!!!

Did you sample R2D2 as percussion? I hope you got all of the articulations (whistles and beepsSquids wrote:

Actually, I think that may have been an Arp 2600. I probably did sample some R2D2 noises at one point. Oh hey... okay, I can tell a cool bizarre story related to Star Wars. I flirted with Carrie Fisher once. It was backstage at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary. I was in my early 20's and weazled my way backstage at Madison Square Garden. I was sitting next to someone from HBO who had a pass and didn't care! So I said "can I borrow that?" and off I went. I almost made a date with Debbie Gibson at the time - very close on that one but 1 gut short on having the guts... but I got a good vibe. I remember talking to her and everyone was trying to pull her away to talk to media and I said "You're busy so I'll let you go" and she said "No, it's okay!"... oh yeah... (however nuthin). But the surprise vibe was from the Princess! A little head nod, smiling "How you doing?" thing going on. I SWEAR I am not imagining this (If it was my imagination she'd be wearing the outfit from Return of the Jedi so... this was normal clothing and that's how I know it was real!gmon72 wrote:Did you sample R2D2 as percussion? Now, it is possible she thought I was someone else. I was talking to some other girl and she said "What are YOU doing here?" and I paused thinking maybe I'd play into that and said "Well, of course! Why wouldn't I be here?" trying to see if I could figure out who she thought I was... I was thinking that maybe because I was talking to Curt Smith she thought I was Roland Orzabal perhaps? I never found out... and I didn't get any dates either. I drank a little too much from the free mini bar and insulted both Foreigner and Yes (Lou Graham and Alan White) before I was done for the evening. This was a young wild and crazy sort of Squids we're talking about here. I may have been only 19 or 20 now that I think about it. I am not sure I even lived in LA yet so this was overwhelming kid in a candy store kind of situation in NY. I had never been backstage at anything like that so I was all over the map. But, pretty crazy huh?

You contemptible Squid! I remained celibate for you. I stood at the back of a cathedral, waiting, in celibacy, for you, with three hundred friends and relatives in attendance. My uncle hired the best Romanian caterers in the state. To obtain the seven limousines for the wedding party, my father used up his last favor with Mad Pete Trullo. So for me, for my mother, my grandmother, my father, my uncle, and for the common good, I must now ....
... get my hihats custom mapped.

That 300 Cymbal & Hihat sampling project sure would make a great package ... or GB bonus!!!!

I am in on this GB, I love the kit's from the 1st GD, I just have a question for SQUIDS...Are the kit's in this new GB going to be ready on time? I know a lot of us are inpatient, hte last GB had promised dates and people were checking their download area to find NOTHING available on time..I know, I know, this can be a big PITA and I would not want a group of people complaining about the little things, but I just wanted to know if this GB is ready to go with downloads available in time!!

Yes, I don't see a problem this time. There were reasons it was late last time such as issues trying to get OWD kits to use the new scripts (There are no OWD kits in this Sequel) or doing it all over the holidays while everyone was on vacation (no more vacation, no more holidays) so we should be fine this time. It will be ready before the end of the group buy. It's almost ready now but we're adding more on top... and we have a much better handle on what to expect this time.jarrydee wrote:I am in on this GB, I love the kit's from the 1st GD, I just have a question for SQUIDS...Are the kit's in this new GB going to be ready on time? I'm gonna join the GB in just a minute, but been lookin on the esoundz website trying to find the SSD $49.95 deal so I can plunk down some $$. So far no luck. Can anyone help me out with a clue or a link? Thanks!Squids wrote:
We'll make a special KVR-only offer which is for anyone who purchases Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle 1 AND joins this Group Buy they can have Infinite Player for FREE (so a $50 gift just for seeing this post! Not bad). There is no concession for anyone who already owns it though - that was the part about the last group buy (or one of the things) that made it confusing. So, this time you have the option of getting BOTH bundles from say February 15th through March 30th (yes, we'll keep the Bundle 1 going at least until then but cannot promise it will still even be available at ALL after that) - and in that case we'll sport you a free Infinite Player (with FREE Deluxe Piano which itself is worth $50! A nice 300 meg C7 Grand).
How to get it? Simple. Just purchase Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle 1 and then join this Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle 2 Sequel Group Buy and then email allen (at) esoundz (dot) com and tell him you want the "FREE INFINITE PLAYER" Squids mentioned on KVR! That's it. (You guys can feel free to quote that offer in upcoming pages in this thread if you want or elsewhere... but it won't be something mentioned on the main product page... so it is kind of a fun secret offer).
By the way, if you want SSD then that $20 is good but we've got something even better for those that REALLY collect. Today we're going to be offering SSD EX plus an expansion of your choice for only $49.95 (That's basically $20 PLUS half off on the expansion). On top of that we're going to have ALL of the SSD expansions exclusively for half-price ($30 each) at www.esoundz.com However, that price is ONLY for people that either join this group buy OR have purchased the Ultimate Studio Bundle 1... which you can still do! Otherwise we will still have a general good deal on SSD (also Platinum) but it will be a little higher than that is all. Not bad! We've got connections... Anyway, if you are a collector of great drum "favors" and you want to expand it all in Kontakt then we've got you covered!
