Good news, I found a problem with long parameter texts,
the SDK defines a 8 bytes string, I made it 20 bytes to prevent that particular problem but that was not enough... I guess that 256 bytes will be ok ?
v0.5.4 is online, or will be soon...

Well, you didn't force me to use VstBoard at all - in fact you didn't even recommend it to me - that was absolutely my own choice, so there is no need for you to be sorry at all!
I have to thank you for all the great work and I'm sorry for my rant - it was just a very frustrating afternoon.
VstBoard is conceptwise the ideal thing for me though, so I should indeed spend much time with it. Thus my comment about staying with 0.51 was nonsense of course - if we don't testdrive it, there's no chance for you to improve it.

That was super-quick - thanks a bunch!CtrlBrk wrote:Good news, I found a problem with long parameter texts,

It ndeed fixes the problem with these two plugins!
However I am still experiencing a lot of crashes with 0.53 which didn't happen with 0.51 .
This time it seems having loaded two instances of 'MultiChannelKeyRange' is the problem.

I need it for creating a key-split, but for the time being I will try to find another plugin for the job. The problem is that the other one I use doesn't have its own GUI, and since VstBoard dosn't give out parameter-values and also is very coarse (or is there a way to fine-adjust GUI-less parameters) it's a no go either atm.

But it already is!CtrlBrk wrote:But I hope it will become a "modular plugin chainer" one day

It just crashed again during saving, resulting in an empty file. I'm rather sure
MultiChannelKeyRange (as mentioned above) is the culprit.

yes there is. you can zoom in the ui and fine adjust. after zoom in you can also scale and limit values. vstboard does everythingjens wrote:(or is there a way to fine-adjust GUI-less parameters)
and yes, it is already a modular plugin chainer (with some stability issues)

Thanks
The midi support is very basic and there's no midi sync yet. I'll check if portmidi includes some tools for that...

I am so going to try this. It sounds really neat
edit:
I can't help to think that it also looks like FL's effect chain host...
If it's even better...You've done a good job then sir

I just realized there's have already been two new updates... (it seems I didn't reveive any notification for this thread - odd)CtrlBrk wrote:Hey ! I've uploaded v0.5.5 yesterday, fixed what seems to be the main cause of crash. Let me know...
in the meantime I played my first gig using VstBoard (0.549 and it all went perfectly well without any problems at all.
I found two sources for potential crashes:
1) there's no indication as to how long saving takes. It seems to take rather lng with bigger projects. Sending MIDI during that time can result in crashes and corrupted projects. I now got used to wait extra long after saving before doing anything further. Hence auto-saving of course can be a huge source for problems.
2) if the loaded setup doesn't correspond with a project you are attempting to load, VstBoard will most likely crash and maybe even completely freeze the machine it runs on. Again, auto-saving is thus a bad idea atm.
Right now I have no idea though, whether 0.56 changes anything regarding these two issues.

Hi, back to work, - at a slower pace
- VstBoard 0.5.7 is online !
Jens, saving shouldn't take that long, and I can't reproduce the crash you get. Can you send me your project file or find if it happens only with a particular plugin ?
