IK Miroslav Philharmonik CE No-Brainer Deal: Just $15!

Am I really the only one who does not get the plugin to work? I can open the stand alone version (only when I run it as administrator, which is strange because no other programm needs that special treatment) ... but the plugin won't even show up in cubase ...

In windows 7 64b:
-It runs ok with reaper x64.
-It runs with glitches standalone (administrator or not)
-It runs with glitches in Phrazor. If i start Phrazor in compabitiblity mode with XP sp2, it runs fine.
-It's not recognized by Samplitude MS. If i start Samplitude MS in compatibility mode with XP sp2, it is recognized and runs fine.

SAME thing happened with the Dimension LE offer. But cakewalk has a patch that solved all this issues (1.2 to 1.5) I dont know about any patch for Miroslav, so you will need some of this tricks.

Thats funny ... I set Cubase to compatibility mode with XP sp2 (I'm on Vista 32) and started Cubase at admin - now Cubase detects PhilharmonikCE as an FX plugin. I can open it in an audio channel and even play on its virtual keyboard ... wtf?
Unfortunately I can't play/sequence it via MIDI (although Cubase lets me route a MIDI track output to it ... ).

make sure your vst plugin folder pathway is the correct one you install the plugin to. sometimes you may have more than one...i do.

I have this glitching in Standalone too. Playing the Miroslav sounds through Sampletank Free in Standalone seems to be glitch free though if you wanna try that. It is a bit of a hassle but all the same parameters are there for tweaking as the Miroslav player is just Sampletank in a different coat. Although it doesn't work the other way round, you cant use Sampletank sounds in Miroslav.

Actually this isn't true.
I have read comments from Peter at IK here that they are intending to do 64bit version in the future.
I have also read some posts, here, and other forums, of users on 64bit windows machines, that this and other IK products work perfectly on them.
I have a 64bit mac, and no problems at all here either.
If they do 64bit SampleTank first, then you can just use these sounds in the free version of that for a while too.

Can you point to the specific posts where they say Miroslav CE will be upgraded to x64?

As someone said above, opening the files in sampletank doesn't seem to preserve some of the settings.

My review :
Installation on iMac pro and Logic : No problem, installation goes smooth, authorization also

Sounds ;

It's a bit a surprising mixture of some very good and some average sounds
A couple that I've tested with existing songs :

- I started with the STNWY pianos : verdict = not to bad to put in a mix, not good enough as a solo piano
- Classical guitar : has some disturbing string noise in the start of every sample. Not good enough for a solo but in a mix you don't hear it.
- Woodwind ENS : Very good for the (original) price of the package
- Woodwinds solo : Some good ones and some average ones, there is way to much tremolo on the flutes, the oboes are good
- The strings are pretty good if you combine a couple of different sections, you can get a decent string section
- Same goes for the brass section, by combining you get a nice section
- The choirs : as such not a big deal. But if you combine them with slight detuning of the different sections, you can get a good choir
- The percussion and drum elements : a strange mixture of good and pretty bad ones....

The final verdict : It compares to the light edition of GPO, same price category and same quality of sounds.
I would never buy it at the normal selling price but at $15 it's a no brainer, there are some very usefull sound in the package.

I believe your comments are right. But after playing with it at afternoon, i believe that, if you take some time to assign midi controllers, this thing become much more than the samples itself. You can make more alive and expressive things, convert things to pads, etc. The engine has lot of synth possibilityes.

As good as GPO? Yech. I didn't even mention I own GPO as it came bundled with Acid Pro, because it wasn't worth mentioning.

like saxophone, a good one doesn't exist in any library, solo or in a mix

i'm convinced these will never get sampled to anything remotely usable

Perhaps their tonal complexity does not easily translate into the digital. To many variables...
