744MB?! Christ! That's a big App for my 16GB iPad 2. Might have to give this one a miss. Hope I'm not going to get the 'do you want to download IK App from App store' message everytime I plug in my IK iRig MIDI

No, the next update will make it a Universal app to work on ANY iOS device including iPad along with a few other surprises... ;)
J.C wrote:I just checked the free version. Well...

I don't see the point with this App, it is extremely limited...

So if it's all about having great samples, well... I've already got hundreds of gigas of hi quality samples and I can open them in all my favourites Apps.

So why should I buy Sample Tank?

I don't see...
No other app out right now can compete with the high quality multi velocity samples that are found inside of SampleTank iOS

ACP is made by a competing vendor; but no idea what the issue could be with Pasteboard.

Thanks for the input. I don't know why devs can't just make their apps user friendly, like u say there's pasteboard.. If I want to copy something out of ST or Amplitube I must find a computer and use ! iTunes. Kinda defeats the purpose of mobile composing.

Amongst the (many) feature requests, could you please consider the ability to delete sample content? I'm interested in buying some more banks, but most are of little interest to me and the space is far more valuable. Without this, many will be tipped towards deleting the whole app to recover space for others...

Thanks.

I just got the iRig MIDI and can now start taking real advantage of SampleTank. As i stated in the iRig MIDI thread, I am trying to get a feel for how I will integrate this into my live rig. I was hoping it would help replace the Yamaha S90XS keyboard I'm using live so I have one less piece of equipment to haul out on stage. But it doesn't quite have the organ sound I'm looking for and the strings are not quite up to what I want. But my main reason for getting SampleTank was so I would finally have a nice grand piano sound at home. My home equipment is 20+ years old and the S90 is not mine. The piano really sounds nice.

I haven't purchased any packs yet, but am thinking about it. My initial thoughts on SampleTank are that some sounds are fantastic and exactly what I'm looking for. Other sounds are useless for me, which is with any product and I'm not really bothered by that. What does bother me are the sounds that are noisy. The fretless bass, for example, has an extreme amount of hiss in it. The organs have low frequency aliasing or something going on. I was thrilled to see the tamboura drone added when I registered the iRig MIDI, but its sustain is too noisy, though the attack is rather nice. I was really hoping for a nice bowed cello, but it is a bit thin, and only somewhat decent for only an octave. I did find the string orch sounds more of that deep, rich sound I was looking for and played better through a larger range.

But there are also some really terrific sounds as well. The pianos are really nice and probably the highlight of the entire package. The e-pianos are nice. I really like the orange phaser you get when registering iRig MIDI. I was actually pleasantly happy with the two choir sounds you get. I like a really warm, haunty choir sound and with a little twist of the filter cutoff, I can get a nice sound. The drum samples are also very good. I will probably start using the drums in sequencing songs. There is also a nice, quiet pad sound I am pretty sure I will begin using as a backup behind talking/praying.

SampleTank for me is meant for live performance and I'm hoping to start integrating it into my rig very soon.

My requests are the ability to remove samples, clean up some of the samples, and I'd really like aftertouch or the mod wheel to effect the Leslie on the organs.

You can make any feature requests on our forums for our developers to see.

@iPlogger Glad your liking the Piano sounds! They are some of the sounds we took from SampleTank 3 and brought into SampleTank iOS

While this product launch is great and all, forgive me my disappointment for not reading about the rolling out of Sampletank x64 or [heaven forbid] Sampletank 3.

Any chance that your flagship product might see an update into the 21st century anytime soon?

SampleTank's sounds are really great and you could use them in a live performance ( you'd have 4 different instruments on different midi channels at your disposal), but please provide SampleTank with a minimum of midi implementation, at least the recognition of midi volume (cc7) and program change messages on each channel

carpenzano, what sounds are you using? I find many of the sounds I want to use are rather noisy with aliasing and sometimes you can even hear the loop point. But other sounds are really clean and sound terrific. I really need to go through the sounds again and come up with a list of the good, clean, usable sounds.

I agree. I see SampleTank as a live performance tool (which is the reason I got it). As such, they should implement some more MIDI options. At this point, though, I don't see how Program Change will work as the sounds don't have program numbers associated with them. Or at least none that we can see. Then you have the option to make sound edits yourself. How would we access those through a program change? What happens when you delete a sound? Or buy a new sound pack? Do all the program numbers change? Will we need to reprogram all of our controllers (or sequencers) with new program numbers? I just don't think SampleTank is ready for dealing with program changes. Though I could be radically off base on my thinking.

Though I should also state I have not actually tried to send a program change. So I haven't tested this out for myself.

iPlogger, I find good enough for a live performance the acoustic pianos, some electric pianos and, generallly speaking, the synts (both leads and pads), that are the sounds I need; I'm afraid that for the hammond sound I'll continue to use my V-Machine loaded with the GSi VB3 (the SampleTank organs are not usable, in my opinion).
As for the program change messages I was thinking to a limited use: the program changes sent on each midi channel deals with the sounds of the category of the one loaded in the relevant part (so that one is able to change a piano sound with another piano sound, a lead synth with another lead synth and so on) making reference to the order in which the sounds appear in each category. I understand that it is not the maximum, but it's better than nothing
