To be clear, I wasn't being ALL that serious. (since I seem to be taken that way here)Hink wrote:that sounds great...but last year...almost all damn year I re-learned a valuable lesson. NAMM can be a mean tease, the iso cab I so love was introduced at NAMM and every month they pushed the date back another month and it was 0ctober (maybe November) when it was finally available. So I just prefer to wait until the product is avaible before I learn of it's existence, even in retail while we did get the earliest access it could be months after NAMM before the reps were bringing us the gear to sell. (depending on the gear we might have seminars or extended training on stuff a week or two before the gear was released)justin3am wrote:hibidy wrote:it's just a bunch of garbage.
I, on the other hand, have been totally surprised by all the cool stuff that's getting released this year.
That's why I hate NAMM watching

but I purposely deleted your parts because I wasn't responding to them...I was responding to the point that there is a lot of cool stuff that's getting released this yearhibidy wrote:To be clear, I wasn't being ALL that serious. edit: I guess I should have deleted the first post
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I can't win in this thread
It's ok Hink, it's no problem. I apologized to Jan, I am disappointed with namm (again) and I a certain person on mute and would have ignored him, but now that he's a moderator.......well, that is that.

hibidy, I know that what I said was abrasive. Considering my mod status, it is inappropriate for me to make inflammatory comments whether or not I intend for people to take my comments personally.
I'll take responsibility for what I said and acknowledge that you found my post offensive.
but...
when you said:
Fair enough, you haven't seen anything that appeals to you in the NAMM announcements. There is nothing wrong with saying that. I do understand where you are coming from in that regard, though I don't feel the same way. For me, NAMM isn't just about keeping up with the latest toys.
I'm not angry and I'm trying not to be defensive. I'm trying to be reasonable. If you would like to continue this conversation, we can do so via PM. If any of the other moderators think that I was/am out of line, I'm willing to have that discussion as well.

You made a generalization that could be taken personally by anyone who is announcing/releasing a product at NAMM. I know that wasn't your intention... but can you at least try to understand what others might infer from your words? You may consider that question ironic or hypocritical, coming from me. Still, I hope the sentiment sinks in.Great, so unless someone is really holding back, it's just a bunch of garbage.

They won't think that and it doesn't matter.
What I'd prefer is just to kinda keep separate, I've been noticing it for a while and it's no win for me considering how things have gone in this situation in the past. I don't think you deserve moderator status, but it's none of my business.

I have no idea what this thread is about but the topic was suiting for namm talk
Behringer came out with some really cool stuff! I'll be getting the single deck, the 4ch mixer and the fx unit. Depending on how bitwig goes i might get the clip unit as well.
It sucks that M-Audio didn't come out with a new controller! Torq is fantastic but it's too expensive to buy just the software.
What else was there ....... lots of, to me, pointless touch interfaces. I long for when this touch hysteria ends and R&D can focus on better stuff.

I don't think I "deserve" mod status. However, I did accept the responsibility of helping to moderate the DIY forum and I realize that I could do a better job of conducting myself as such.
I'll leave it at that.

Temp lock while I split off (at one participant's request) a few off-topic posts. Both threads will be unlocked when I'm done.
[edit] Too late. It's tied into that Vulcan nervous system. If I try to remove the creature, Spock will die. IOW, I can't tease apart what belongs and what doesn't. Let the chips fall where they may. Some other mod may want to have a go at it.

I would not want to go .. way to noisy for my poor earstapper mike wrote:Just once before I die I'd like to go. It aint gonna happen this year.
What do you think will be the big attraction this year aside from in and out burgers?
One messe i really liked was the alcohol and gourme food messe! Free drinking from anything to very old wines and other beverages to fancy drinks by pro bartenders in the bar
I guess it's easier to visualize the stuff in your studio if you've been there. It must be pretty fun to compare what the companies have come up with. Though that you can do from home of course. I would been hanging out with Behringer without a doubt! If the designer guy was there i would have tried to talk him into modular studiostuff
What did you find interesting? (you may have answered this but reading the last few posts there's a lot i dont want to go through in the past threads ...

apology accepted. I don't know how to read 'don't you?' as though directed to another, though. Having a go at people that use a Mac happens too often around here... It's hard to credit how it's skin off anybody's nose.hibidy wrote:
Jan, that ace frehley thing wasn't directed at you AT ALL. I shouldn't have put the two in the same post. The other part was completely just joking around and was not intended to be anything other than a chuckle. I am sorry

I tend to think the wink icon (;) <-- this guy), when used around here, is meant as smug elitism/narcissism.. but it probably isn't all the time..
