Thanks for interest! Unfortunately I didn't have so much free time last months. The GUI is about 60% completed and I think with current tempo of development I can prepare something like windows beta version in two weeks. In one week I can show some fancy screenshots. All I can say now the GUI is _big_ :-)

After that beta I want to make some Mac experiments to try to prepare Mac 64-bit version and also maybe AU. Also a lot of people requested alternative simple GUI and I think it will be based on current GUI version (but with different color scheme).

Also you can check this:

Thanks vladg for the new version. I was thinking the new m/s option with the compressor.. I think it would increase the functionality of it if there was a way to control how much compression goes to m and s separately. Currently it can end up with a situation where the mid channel volume can get much lower than side channel (which doesn't sound good IMO). Also it would be cool to have metering option for m/s gain reduction separately. Anyway, this is already the best limiter I have, so thank you very much! Cheers

Final version will have 2 needles for meters in M/S mode and 3 needles for meters in multiband mode.

Yes, I know that currently M/S mode in compressor works only for small amount of gain reduction. I want to fix it in a some way until final release (maybe M and S threshold will depend on each other, maybe I should add some kind of link between M and S gain reduction). Anyway, this version with M/S compressor mode is very experimental one. I even didn't post it on my site. :-)

With M/S mode I was thinking about opinion on gearslutz "sanddigger1; I tried it and compared it with Ozone5 maximizer. Maybe my settings were wrong, but I found that the compressor was killing the depth of the mix even with around 2 dB GR." And he is right. The thing I'm waiting from mastering limiter is to increase depth. Also I remembered "width" knob in old T-Racks compressor.

Great news! I'll be keeping an eye out for the beta. Thanks! :)

Don't know if this will help Vlag but I tend to keep my Mid/Sum 3.0dB up from the Side/Difference as a rough rule of thumb but its not a hard and fast one man. For example a mix with alot more room for low-end (for me personally thats when the tempos are on the slower side instead of thrash/death/grind tempos  like half-time sections and such in what I am familar with) then I'll have the Mid/Sum even more beefed up sometimes can get 6.0dB up (I have not meassured extensively, Just going off the top of my head here). I do not know about electronic material but I'm sure some of the electronic creators here could give you a rough rule of thumb for their.

Still I have not made extensive use of the compressor section but now Teksonik and other's have mentioned it I will hit it harder just out of curiosity, Cheers for the heads up on that all. I am pretty pleased with the plug-in as you know man already so it can only get better :tu:

Cheers and all the best to all as always :)

Chrisma wrote:Ok. This plugin is the new standard for mastering. It will be a plugin legend. I have NEVER been able to been able to get both the loudness and smoothness I like from on single plugin. Both paid and freeware. Hands down this the best single mastering plugin I've got and its free. Unbelievable! I don't know exactly what is under the hood and I don't care. The level of control you have over the signal with all three sections (compressor, limiter and clipper) is just a dream. I still can't believe it. I'm just blown away. Wow!

 :o :-o
Kind of what my experience has just been with this plugin.

Mastering a hard dance (150bpm) track I already had event horizon on but I had a little play with this and am very impressed with the smooth but deep weight that it added. I left this one for my master.

Thanks!

I hope you'll get the time you need to finish it :)

I can work with this gui but something simple and clean like this (but like fabfilter!) would be best I think. ;) ;) ;)

Any other questions?

OK, those 2 there don't look great. I don't use them, but I use simplon every day and it looks great. I have seen some others that look great too.

But I didn't mean copy fabfilter did I! I meant a minimal design instead of photo realistic.

Anyway, on to something more important than a few peoples opinions:

In the manual, the compressor look-ahead section says - To set it on with short attack to suppress peaks. But then point 2. of Typical adjustment steps says to "set it to off if attack suppressing is needed"???

This might just be confusing wording but It has confused me a little.

I assume that lookahead and short attack will suppress transients while "OFF" will let transients through?
