Cubase skin for Reaper

Before this thread goes totally downhill...
I have to mention that the Cubase theme for Reaper is based upon the (indeed) more ugly Cubase 4/5 generation rather than 6. Granted, the GUI design is not the best of Cubase, but it got rid of the "cute" looking faders.
I wish Cubase would be skinnable, with all those talents out there, I'd definitely use one that looks more like Reaper or Sonar. I simply despise the "modern" design of Cubase's own tools like: BeatMachine, the IR reverb, their bundled synths (not talking about PADshop here), the Media Bay, etc.
Maybe this will change with Cubase 7 - who knows. But I sure as hell hope it won't turn into a mess like Wavelab 7.

It sure is. Makes me want to launch Reaper just to look at it

HOLY MOLLY!
I think I might finally jump on it, just for multi-track purposes.
Though my screens are 1050, not 1080.
Stupid 16:10...

You gotta set it to full screen. I had the same on mine, hit f11 if on windows, not sure the mac equivalent to get rid of the title bars. Then everything lines up perfectgamecat666 wrote:ive got a 1080 laptop screen here and the preview pics go off the bottom...!

If you hit the download button, it asks you if you have a 1080 screen. If you hit no, it downloads a different theme pack.
I do not(!) know if this is for smaller screens or not, but heck that thing is beautiful. Did I already mention that I'd love to see Cubase be skinnable?
Now if the theme designer of "Revolution" would spit out what he has planned for the near future, I think I have my main themes I'd like to go for, additional to the PT9 one (which does even seem to behave like PT).

Nope, for once I'm serious.
That look of Cubase is sometimes a major turnoff. Up until Cubase 6, it was blue-ish comic-like (the faders especially). Looking at Sonar or Reaper, hosts can look outstanding, while still having an organic feel to it.
The WT theme (the page is currently down btw) is a prime example, same with the Revolution theme and I've also seen another analog type console theme for Reaper.
Granted, minimalism can work (see Ableton Live), but I simply hate the user interfaces of ProTools, Cubase, Logic and StudioOne. Especially if it's "host internal stuff".
I mean, you work with these tools for hours. And I more than once found myself lost in the GUI - it's hard to distinguish which channel I'm on, and heck hat kind of channel it is.
Something like that.
Why can't all other host developers see that their designs are outdated and unintuitive. Heck, Wavelab is ugly as funk and that Java type makeover didn't do it any good.

While WT Imperial must have taken hundred upon hundreds of hours to complete, I find it unusable.
It tries too hard to look like hardware.
The Reavolution themes are unfortunalely going that road too...
To me, it looks like a competition on who can best the best shading or gradient, regardless on how it feels to use it many hours every day.
That's why a slightly customized version of Reavolution 1.2 has been my default theme for months: IMO the best blend between good looks and user-friendliness.
