That is incorrect. I would even contend that people who "believe" in anything haven't actually understood Buddhism at all, or that any attempt to define a Buddhist is like eating the recipe instead of the meal, but that would definitely derail this thread.
Now I don't want to make a "What-is-a-real-buddhist?" thread out of this, but as a buddhist I know what a buddhist is...:)

You have to practice as a buddhist in order to know that there exist no buddhists and in the end you see clearly that there are buddhists again, but in an other understanding... (that's like Diamant Sutra 8) )

But now let's commemorate Yauch again...

May that belief serve you well.

If Yauch realized that there is no such thing as a Buddhist, that there is never any becoming, just being, then he died with great peace of mind. I fear, though, that he worried about coming back as a Republican and spoiled it all.

I doubt that the just-being-atheists die with more peace of mind. I think people believing that they come to a god, to some great ghosts, to the Nirvana or to the reign of the seven virgins - all people that believe they are reaching a BETTER place - can die with more peace of mind.

Hoping he is not re-incarnated as a trash metal guitarist because of his early background from the punk band...

Indeed it is.
Not all Buddhists "believe" in reincarnation, only the religious types do. The colourful ripple in space-time that was Adam Yauch is no more, and that is all.
So what you say to a buddhist?
There are Buddhist schools that have retained a lot of their religious heritage, with the roots going back to Vedic beliefs, which are also a precursor to modern-day Hinduism. Hence the belief in reincarnation, superhuman deities/demons and the definition of Karma that these two share. These can primarily be found in south-east Asia, and in Tibet. Other Buddhists (especially of the Chan/Zen school) reject these kinds of beliefs. To them, there is no before or after, there is only ever an unbroken now. Our view of space-time as a straight line is, to these Buddhists, an illusion, just as our idea of the world being made of distinct objects is a superficial illusion. A Zen Buddhist would probably not say anything at all, he would rather perform some sort of act that occurred to him intuitively.
He would also very likely not post on KVR. :)

Sorry for OT, I think Yauch was of the Tibetan persuasion, so perhaps "Rest til you return" is appropriate.
Thanks, i'm pretty ignorant when it comes to buddhism but it's closely related to some stuff i've been reading about recently. :)

Wherever he's gone or whatever the truth, he had an impact in this world. RIN MCA.

The In Sound From Way Out

Was never the biggest fan but appreciated them none the less until I was blown away by that album. The boys can play and rap. Respect. I love chilling and relaxing to that all instrumental album by them. In 3's/Groove Holmes is where its at. Never knew they brought the latin jazz funk that hard.

(The first song)

Was at my cousins wedding this weekend and Brass Monkey was on his playlist. All the younger hipsters from that era all raised a glass when the DJ put that song came on, knowing the news from a day before.

IIRC this album is all intrumentals from ill communication and check your head plus some others, incredible piece IMOHO
