Yeah, but the thing about tablet versus regular desktop/laptop is that the tablet has a touch responsive screen. So can you twiddle the knobs of the VST's by touching the screen on the tablet?
You mean in a similar way to twiddling the knobs of the VST by touching an XY trackpad on a laptop, which would controls the cursor like a mouse, which would be set up to move the onscreen knob?

You know, I'd have to think about that.

I don't give a damn about playing those toys on stage, i still prefer real keyboards for adult hands. By the way, if "surface" (this is the name) will run hosts and vsts, I will buy it because it is a very nice replacement to a notebook, when traveling, in bed, etc.

Yep, it's that magic finger touch that's make a tablet a tablet :D

for business? ugly?

erm, no.

Now that tablets on stage are considered "cool" :hihi:, if the new "surface" will run vsts and not toyish pseudoinstruments, musicians will port it on stage. Just this.
Windows 7 tablets as powerful as the i5 Surface already exist, and can be bought, running Windows 7, in stores, right now. If it was going to happen, it would have happened by now.
But if you want, you can play on stake this, too, of course: :D

Yes, I know, Ive got a MIDI interface for mine. Have you got a point, or did something vital dribble out your ear?

Then why hasnt that revolution happened? Windows tablets that will run VSTs have been around for years.

Perhaps because the OS, in 2002, wasn't ready for that particular kind of use, like Windows 8 supposedly is? I say supposedly because I'm not a particular fan of this kind of stuff myself, nor am I constantly on the run that I could not afford to work with a real laptop, if needed, so, I don't really know what exactly are the specific requirements of a tablet.
But if I was given something like an iPad to replace a laptop, I would laugh at it.

whyterabbyt wrote: So you're claiming that a current slate PC tablet, say one of Samsung's models, that runs Windows 7 right now on an i5 processor, is going to be rendered 30-years worht of obsolete by slate PC tablets that come out in 6 months and run Windows 8?

could you enumerate the exact technical reasons for that?
Really? Is this called a tablet? Then is my iMac a tablet too?

That's funny, Ive been at KVR since 2001, and the same basic OS was ready for it then.

However what you're saying means absolutely nothing; its not about what was possible the day the Tablet PC was specified. Its what's been possible since then, up till now.

So even if it wasnt possible straight away in 2002, it certainly is possible right now, when, as Ive already said repeatedly, you can buy an i5-based windows 7 tablet off the shelf.

She seems to lack sufficient modulation routings to sustain his interest ...
