Guess I won't wait for push users to start unloading their live Intro copies then.. :hihi:
Yes, open a new account if you buy a Push, then you should get Intro.

Intro is only available with the first registration of Push.

The Page you need is: https://www.ableton.com/en/live/feature-comparison/

Key points:

Here are the features common to all editions of Live 9:

...

Unlimited Instruments, Audio effects and MIDI effects per project

I have Intro 9 and have never been stopped from adding plugins (though I am a bit of a minimalist... :))

Out of curiosity I'll try adding loads of plugs tonight and see how far I get (guessing laptop will give up before Live).

Is that unlimited Live instruments/effects rather than non native plugins?

Is important to note that if you already have some version of Ableton Live it won't add Intro upon registration of Push.

So better create a second account to get the Intro license.

The comparison chart doesn't differentiate. It says unlimited vsts ...

Ok, well I got 16 tracks of Charlatan tootling away, each with a couple of effects too. Couple of tracks with > 10 effects too for a giggle. Then made an instrument rack and added another half a dozen instruments making a total of more than twenty (ie. not limited to 16). Kept piling effects on till I got bored.

CPU went 145% and the audio cut but at least you're not limited to 16 instruments. :)

NB. All were VST/is, no native plugs.

HTH.

Thanks, guys, for wealth of information in this thread! :)

Yes.
There is dark side of using VST plugins - additional latency in the audio track. Every VST in the audio patch adds latency of your Audio Interface.
Example:
Live version:9
Audio Interface latency: 512 samples
VST count in the audio track: 3
VST internal latency: 0 samples

Overall latency=512+512+512+512=2048 samples ! :(
