I can deal with iLok.
The good side is when you move to another computer go don't have to go looking for your serial number again.

There are worse things in life than an ilok.

TC Electronic LM2 - I wanted this so bad. Yet I'm no iLok fan.

Obviously I'm looking for alternatives from other devs, but chances are none of them could hold a light to the LM2, unless you know of a metering plugin that I might have overlooked.
Why start a thread to whine about it? I dont understand it. There's so much other plugins out there to chose from.
Jesus F. Christ dude...you call that a whine?
No worries - Toneboosters it is!

We should absolutely be publicly whining about this if we don't like it. Paying customers should not be punished because of the inevitablity of internet piracy. And in a lot of cases with high-demand product that have extra convoluted protection, the cracked version (because they will figure out how to crack it sooner or later) ends up being more convenient to use than the one you'd pay money for.

I agree with that - how can customer dissatisfaction ever be heard if it's not talked about?

Personally I don't want to buy a piece of hardware on top of the software if I don't need it, and I don't want to have to connect a piece of otherwise useless hardware to my system just to make the software functional.

I was about to hit the buy button for MOTU BPM recently and stopped dead in my tracks when I realised I had to buy an ilok too. I already have an elicenser I don't want to use another USB port just for one piece of software. Now if they had an option to use elicenser I would have went for it.

I do that about once a year with EastWest. All ready to take advantage of a sale, then see the iLok requirement, and it's like, no. Nope. Sorry.

This is a wonderful thread that shocases how urgently KVR needs a *MUTE THREAD BUTTON*.

Ben/Moderators please implement - Faaanks

Isn't that called "Don't open the thread" ?
Duh

I like dongles. (Yeah, I know this gonna end up in misquoted thread) I don't use them, but I'm happy they exist. Make decisions easier, in this crowded lot.

There is truth in that. It crosses something off the list immd :D

First thing I look for.

But again back to the op, I can understand this. I'd LOVE to be able to try some slate stuff, or maybe some of these verbs that require one......nope.

I think it's odd too especially in slate's situation where SSD is not dongled but the others are

WOW!
I'm surprised that my post didn't get buried in the mass of iLok hate.

Glad to be of help.
