I tried vst/au in Reaper and the "save dialog Z index" is still the same. I'm wondering if any of the Maverick users are having this issue in Reaper?

I don't know why I don't remember to test things in Bidule. I usually use it more like a chainer so often times its out of sight and out of mind.aMUSEd wrote:Maybe it's more host specific? - so far I've mainly been using this in Bidule.

Daven, I'm curious as to why have the user trace the waveform? I mean, since Cycle has already gone through the trouble of painting it on-screen why not just take that snapshot as a starting point? Or use any of the subsequent waveforms over the lifespan of the wav file as a starting point or a waveform to use on another layer?

You mean if the user loads a wave file, they must want to trace the waveform? That's not always the case. Many sounds are easier to approach spectrally, but further, Cycle can't know which part of the wav file to trace from - the attack, the middle, the tail? The waveform changes.UncleAge wrote:Daven, I'm curious as to why have the user trace the waveform? Conceptually, it could completely vectorize the dynamic waveshape, but the mesh topology (# of vertices and lines) would then be unworkably complex. What then? You have the original sound with no flexibility. There has to be some generalization, some abstraction, to gain any benefit over use of the sample directly.
Perhaps your idea is not the pursuit of recreation of a sound but to begin with wave data and build upon it with the spectral editing? That is interesting, something I've been thinking about.

Installed the new version this morning and following your tutorial in stand alone mode. Unfortunately it has crashed like 4 times now and my computer normally doesn't crash applications. Hope you get it sorted, as I realize I'm getting over the learning curve of it, but I'm just following the tutorial, and it's frustrating when it drops.

You can help a lot by providing me the crash report. When it fails, OSX usually comes up with a dialog about the crash, click "report..." then save it.Dasheesh wrote:Installed the new version this morning and following your tutorial in stand alone mode. Trying the new version - file browser for samples is much better. As with others I'm not sure what it's for though now. The ratings is still weird - I'm now seeing two presets with ratings set - neither of which I attempted to rate yesterday, and every time I try and remove the rating it appears agains as soon as I move my mouse off the browser. On the other hand the one that I did manage to rate yesterday is no longer rated at all and any that I try and rate now it doesn't stick - gone as soon as I move my mouse.
Edit - OK weirder - they are now showing up but only after I have closed it once and restarted the plugin. But any more I set are still vanishing (but will also probably show the next time)

Drawing is much smoother - but I also got a crash while drawing (copied the dump but it's too big to post - KvR won't let me)

Alright, I have to put it away for now, but I'll break it back out tonight or tomorrow and start sending reports.DavenH wrote:You can help a lot by providing me the crash report. In the standalone, au and vst the help/shortcuts window displays (ctrl-r, ctrl-f, ctrl-p) for the Waveform, Effects and Preset Browser tabs.
In the standalone it works as (cmd-r, cmd-f, p). No cmd key needed for the Preset Browser.
In the au and vst only (p) works. None of the others work with any modifier key or by themselves that I can identify.

I loaded 40 instances into Reaper just to see how hungry it is. Different midi file on each track and a different preset in each instance. CPU usage was hovering around 50%. Not bad.
Also, didn't see any spikes or any slowdown. All screens came up quickly. I had the standalone running as well.

Jeez, you have a very hefty computer. How was memory, pretty high? I can barely believe that worked.UncleAge wrote:I loaded 40 instances into Reaper just to see how hungry it is. Different midi file on each track and a different preset in each instance. CPU usage was hovering around 50%. Not bad.

Time for more testing there. Could you email it -> daven.hughes@gmail.com tyaMUSEd wrote:Drawing is much smoother - but I also got a crash while drawing (copied the dump but it's too big to post - KvR won't let me)
Forgot to change those to cmd on the display. Shortcuts are always a bit iffy in plugins because the host swallows some keys, some it lets through.UncleAge wrote:shortcuts
