Lush Life (for Lush101) LuSH-101

It sounds great, but the cpu usage kills it for me. Maybe in 10 years when I'll buy a new budget system..
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

Yes, it's pretty demanding. I only can use simple patches with it, but hey, I still use it ;)

Post

Yeah, I use it alot alongside Spire and Diva. It has a nice unique analogue character which sounds distinguishable from other 'virtual analogue' type VST synths. It can create a wide range of different types of sounds, from phat basses to screaming leads to rich pads and much more. I especially like creating pads with lush.

Still, it's pretty demanding on the CPU, but still not as demanding as it was 2 years ago, when people had even slower CPUs. But a little more CPU efficiency for future versions would be nice anyway. ;)

That "demandingness" really depends on what you're trying to do.. Using just one layer and no internal fx, it's really easy for cpu. Of course if you stack more and more voices it'll soon eat your cpu but in mono.. :tu:

For just one voice and no effects, better use TAL Bassline-101, right?

It's "less than", not "less that", by the way.

indeed, there's no comparison feature wise between the two...

Well.. If you own Lush but not TAL B.. Can't see why you should get TAL. Though to my ears those two are different beasts even though they should be emulating the same thing.

Just checked.. As long as I stay away from unison, lush is pretty easy for my core2 duo with 32 polyphony and reverb, delay and chorus on. Just few % cpu hit.

That's great I guess, but this synth gets to sound especially great when you DO use unison. With the unison feature and the layers it feels more like an evolution, compared to plugins like TAL Bassline-101, which is simply a copy of the original SH-101. The kind of supersaw sounds this thing can put out sound really phat and (no pun intended) lush.

yeah no one uses it anymore, isn't it like 3 or 4 years old...everything sucks after it's 2 years old.
oh and if no one is talking about it here it must not be relevant.

make sure you have *enables multi threading* option turned on within the synth. im using plenty of unison in this video but its no where near as bad as diva for example.
