Just wondering... Blofeld is now released since maybe 3-4 years? Or more? But just now the Firmare OS goes with v1.22 to "final"?

Yes it will probably be the final ever version.Cyforce wrote:Just wondering... Blofeld is now released since maybe 3-4 years? Or more? But just now the Firmare OS goes with v1.22 to "final"?
1.15 was the previous official release from a couple of years ago.

Yes, and since they've been able to provide firmware updates for this without having to replace chips, your hardware synth isn't left buggy like ones from the late 80s and early 90s. Access still fixes bugs (and adds features) in firmware for the 9 years old Virus TI. There's always a bug left. Digital hardware synths that are very "stable" on release are usually ones that are much simpler than something like Blofeld.Cyforce wrote:Just wondering... What is your point? This isn't another FX plugin development or something, you really can't expect they release weekly versions.Cyforce wrote:Just wondering... Blofeld is now released since maybe 3-4 years? Or more? But just now the Firmare OS goes with v1.22 to "final"?
Beside that i am seeing that developers which release new supposedly fixed version very often - for some reason always end up in another magical circle of "old bugs fixed but new ones created" so actually it's a spinning wheel of nothing new even if it seems so..
Did you ever worked with Blofeld. I have one and i have older firmware but for some reason i am not experiencing any of the issues sometimes being reported. There are some weird ones which occur under specific conditions and people reported low volume on some sounds but i did not experienced it ever.
Maybe that's one of the reason why is it taking so long?

Though I'm not necessarily expecting any more updates, when they say this version if "final" that doesn't mean it is the final Blofeld firmware version, ever. It just means that version 1.22 itself is complete and that version will not have any more changes.
That's probably obvious to most- just seemed like from some comments maybe some people weren't really understanding that....

I guess they wrote Final for this version since people started to wonder what was happening with all these mysterious updates and all the complaints about the latest version 1.16b2 being a beta for so long.

It seems to me that Waldorf lacks a basic QA department. My mind boggles at stuff like this as with a good QA team releases would be much better. It would take more time, obviously, to release an update but the release wouldn't have to be sheepishly taken down off the site because it's unusable for many owners.kmonkey wrote:What is your point? While Waldorf may think they're saving money, it probably costs them quite a lot. The reputation of the Blofeld as having a list of old unresolved bugs is one of the main reasons I've stayed away and I'm sure there are many others who've gone with a different synth or sold their Blofeld in frustration. I'm quite content with Largo but maybe in the future I'd think about a Blofeld again if they get their act together.

Actually they have someone for that now (a dedicated QA director) but he just started his job so let's see.
He is taking care that necessary bug fixes are done and also takes care that remaining bug fixes for the 64-bit plugin updates will be done. Also possible that future betatests will be re-organized in some way.
At the moment we are coopertating with him concerning the remaining Largo 64-bit fixes.
Will have another lopok at Blofeld OS 1.22 myseld as sson as i find tme (currently enough work with the plugin 64-bit updates...).

Hi,goldenanalog wrote: That's great! Now: is Waldorf ever going to open up the 'reserved' wavetable slots so users can load them with their own? And as a general question: is there really any value getting the sample license for the desktop - the wavetable stuff is to die for, so maybe I'm just not seeing it.
And BTW: Got your latest preset package for the Blofeld - man, that's what I'm talking about (Analog versus Digital - It's good!) - why do I need it to load samples? I'd rather have access to the reserved slots, thank you very much!
first many thansk for putchasing my bank and the kind words.
BTW that bank is already quite old.
It was done using OS 1.15 and this free editor:
http://lady.rdsor.ro/~kotro/index.php?m=soft#blofeld
That developer also has a free waavetable editor.
Looking forward to do another bank but Pulse 2 will be first. While i also got an editor for the Pulse 2 i still prefer to program it at the hardware interface which is straightforward (more than in the Blofeld). While doing my factory presets for the Pulse 2 i did not have an editor anyway...
Concerning the sample expansion it really depends on what you want to do. It could be useful for certain things for sure. There also seem to be a few more soundsets at the Waldorf Online Shop that include samples. Besides that there is also a selection of factory samples.
Concerning wavetables also the awesome Audio Term tool is compatible with the Blofeld (and now also compatible with DUNE 2):
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 7&t=334828
In the Blofeld keyboard the sample expansion is already unlocked and the price of the keyborad seems to be a bargain, at least here in germany.
Ages ago i had sampled the Hypersaw in the Virus TI and could be quite useful to use this in the Blofeld. My commercial bank for PPG Wave 3.V includes a bunch of samples including some from the TI.

From another Forum (seems someone from Waldorf):
Between the last official version and this version
http://www.waldorf-music.info/de/blofel ... irmware-de
there were sum interim betas. 1.2 introduced some bugs with gui (sine waveform went missing), phasing problem and jumping value when you turn volume knob. They are fixed.
Sync lfo/arp fix. This was a major complaint with the last official version.
Other value optimization for knobs.
Sync Fx fix.
Encoder fix and some system fixes.
1.18-> 1.2 fix now you can use two wavetables/samples at osc1+2 at the same time.
Firmware update/downgrade now possible
General system Optimization
Blofeld Keyboard Edition Update
Now you can play a single "Part" with the keys. Changing the Global MIDI channel will change the Part. Omni will play all parts at the same time, so you can use this for layer sounds.
Mod and pitch wheel will not send random value
Data transfer from keys to DSP optimized.
Update/downgrade now possible, jumping volume, some other value optimizing, multi mode single bank now available, system optimizing.
Complete Bugfix-List will follow next week!
