I don't give a chit about the financial year I just want more features for this upgradebmrzycki wrote:It's a fair point. They'll surely not hoard that money on the bank though. Apart from that, that sum is pretty much a joke, even for medium size companies. And especially the implementation of RE's, and the recent business changes should tell one, that these kind of changes were needed to survive. If i had to guess, then i would say, if they continued the way like before, they'd be bankrupt in a couple of years. You got to keep people at it, and in order to do so, you need to implement new stuff, new features, and what not, as this thread also shows well enough.bmrzycki wrote:It's a fair point. What i'm just trying to say is that Propellerhead isn't one big multi national company milking its clients. https://www.propellerheads.se/company/employment/
And 1 million $ is a laugh, probably quickly spent on marketing campaigns. We are some 35+ employees

Well I know around here we tend to easily get down on announcements like these, but looking over at the PUF we are definitely not alone this time. Seems the majority over there sides the majority here of 'this qualifies as a .5 update, not a 130$ update'. Sort of surprising since they do generally tend to be fanboyish from what Ive seen over there

Obviously, there's going to be more to this update than meets the eye.

I think you and I are agreeing and don't realize it.chk071 wrote:What i'm just trying to say is that Propellerhead isn't one big multi national company milking its clients.
Didn't PHeads say they do all their marketing now on social media and avoid all the big NAMM/Messe things? Even so, your point is valid. And 1 million $ is a laugh, probably quickly spent on marketing campaigns.

at what??? the expense of the customers wallets? its not the customers responsibility to save propellerhead as a company.chk071 wrote:It's a hard business, it's hard times, and you always have to think what you can do next to keep people motivated to buy. Well whats more worrying is the pulling of line6. Sure they give you 2 years to figure it out, but could this apply in the future to RE's? Some dev gets pissed off and no longer wants their stuff available to users so then no one can buy it or download it any longer (thats a huge speculation though as I have no idea with the RE dev license agreement is)?
Its also their touted backwards compatibility. Pulling line6 puts that in doubt with any future upgrades

The download upgrade is not the best way to upgrade.
The boxed version is the one.
It comes with some kind of lubricant (for 7.5 users only).

Oh come on... you get a full blown virtual studio for the price of Omnisphere. It's a bargain really. If you want to complain about the validity of the price for the recent update, maybe fair enough, i don't know what they offered in the past. But didn't they offer one their own RE's lately for free, when you do a upgrade to Reason 7? Plus they had a "pay what you want" upgrade for owners of Reason and Record to Reason 6. Is that all worth nothing now?AstralExistence wrote:at what??? the expense of the customers wallets? its not the customers responsibility to save propellerhead as a company.chk071 wrote:It's a hard business, it's hard times, and you always have to think what you can do next to keep people motivated to buy. They'd probably have gone bust already if you hadn't bought it so many times.AstralExistence wrote:at what??? the expense of the customers wallets? its not the customers responsibility to save propellerhead as a company.chk071 wrote:It's a hard business, it's hard times, and you always have to think what you can do next to keep people motivated to buy. What a terrible update. I remember back in the day Propellerhead used to do exciting updates like adding Thor in Reason 4.
REs are a failure from a musician's point of view because all the best virtual instruments like DIVA, Monark, Ivory, Massive and Omnisphere are not available in RE format.
I had a look at the Propellerheads website and it does appear that the top RE's are made by Propellerhead, the Reason user suffers as these plugins would have been included in R8 for free had it not been for the RE introduction a while ago.
The new guitar amp looks lame -- only 4 models. Even Garageband comes with the full version of Logic X's Amp Designer which has over 15 models.
Finally, what about the abysmal sound quality of Subtractor, Thor and all the other synths in Reason. They need to make a plugin that can compete with Monark -- which is the standard right now.
I'm hoping NI release a DAW to crush Reason ASAP.

I'm not sure why you would want a piece of software squashed? Did it harm your family? Did it get the promotion you were after? If you don't like a piece of music software then just don't buy it. Monark a standard? I've never used it as I just use my Moog's. I find Logics amp designer to sound horrible but that's just my opinion and choose to use something else.burbank wrote:What a terrible update.
