For the benefit of others reading, there are no workflow killers for you. This isn't necessarily a one-size-fits-all statement.
TheoM wrote: they have "removed" is the browser cancel button. Is that that much of a deal breaker for you?
Yes it is, absolutely a deal breaker. Along with the even brighter sequencer background and the inability to preview some samples in project time.
TheoM wrote: if you don't like it, is there any need to keep saying the same thing over and over?
Everyone is saying the same thing over and over, including you. Simply because I'm on the other side of your opinion does not mean I cannot state my opinion. This is the nature, if not the purpose of internet forums.
TheoM wrote:Just don't use it!
Thanks for the tip. I have no intention of using it, until Propellerhead review a number of fixes to this poorly conceived rollout.

I cannot recommend enough that other users who are not quite in understanding of what these changes mean to workflow, that they take a trial demo before jumping straight to a purchase.

As eXode already pointed out, pretty much the only complaint I have about 8 is the fact that I can't "cancel" a patch browsing session and revert back to the initial patch my device was at. That and, rex file auto-preview being not in sync with the transport (that's just a bizarre oversight)!

The GUI changes? Don't mind 'em. Sequencer changes? Love 'em. Drag and drop blah blah blah? Indispensable. I too can no longer work in version 7.

But as for "WoW factors", it's a hard sell coming from 7.0 peeps. For people who recently upgraded from a previous version to 7, and got the 8 upgrade for free like Mr. Fister, it's not a bad deal though. You can keep on using 7.1.1 if you want and/or run 8.0 if you feel adventurous.

TheoM wrote: Why on earth do you correct me and say "there are no workflow killers for ME" and make a big deal of it, when you are also speaking only about yourself when you say "there ARE workflow killers"? so if you say that, i have every right to say there aren't.
take a deep breath, buddy. Youre the one suggesting I silence my views. Not surprising, considering you have previously implored people to only give five star ratings of REs or if they are unimpressed, to refrain from making a rating at all. Im sorry if my disagreement with your opinion on R8 are rattling your cage, Theo - but the world cannot fall into line with your opinions all the time.

I'll stick with the 65% of PUF users who have determined that Reason 8 is a BAD VALUED UPGRADE. ..... if that's ok with you.

People come to forums seeking user opinions before making decisions on how to spend their money. That should remain fair and balanced at all times. This isn't a totalitarian community where we must speak in party-approved praise.

Hi, still using Reason 5...

May be I didn't deep dive into its new features but the only thing they ‎Emphasize were, UI, workflow and Drop-n-Drop. What are they Wow factors that I've missed ?

Thanks for sharing and cheers!

If you haven't ponied up the 129 dollars yet to get...

Audio Recording
The Echo
Alligator
Neptune
L6 Amps
Audio Transpose
Pulverizer
64 bit
Pulsar
Saturation Knob
Audiomatic
External MIDI Instrument
Audio Slice and Quantize
Create REX loops
Channel Grouping
Spectrum EQ
Syncronous
Expanded Factory Sound Bank (6 & 7)

...I don't think you can possibly be wowed by anything in this or any upgrade

^^ good list. From v5 you get heaps.

Most of which can be had on a second hand R7 licence for $150. I suggest the OP buy from someone privately and not get stuck with R8 and the inability to drop back to the superior R7 version.

To be clear, some of these features aren't offered in the 8 upgrade automatically (Softube Saturation Knob, Pulsar, & Syncronous). Those are separate additional purchases. They were offered for free at various times, though.

I have always got more done in Reason, than any other option out there, even though everyone has browsers that stay open while the project is running, and you can drag and drop to your hearts content.

So what do you expect has happened to me since using Reason 8? It's a no brainer that I've been a f**kton more productive than the superior past versions. I am blazing through projects and I have more time to do other things in life.

I personally think the upgrade price is rich for what it is, and the half-assed implementation of features annoy me, but I went from 6.5 to 8, so the hit is acceptable to me.

But there is no way I can go back, even with a few missing features. It did take a couple of weeks to warm up, and my first impression was WTF.is.this.sh*t. That's it?

Anyways, if anyone is a bang for your buck kind of dude, you likely should be waiting, if on 7, for 9, or a sweetened 8.5. Cause there's is nothing to really wow you here.

And if you are one that needs more toys so that you can create, you should just wait it out, until the list becomes as big as the one a couple back.

bingo :tu:

Readers, it doesn't matter which DAW version or brand you have. The creativity is within YOU, not a lousy, grossly overpriced upgrade.

Dont send your money to Sweden, but go and buy and awesome controller like the Panorama, or get some other real world gear instead... something that WILL make a positive impact on your workflow.

I wouldn't mind the Cancel button, but that works well too. Cheers. :)
