Flexoid has 3 totally different types of MULTI-MODE oscillators
You can also use Filter B to modify/shape the noise seperately by switching Filter B On and setting Input 1 source to OSC:C and set the Input 1 Level.
You can apply any filter type and any modulators as normal
This puts the Filter in Dual Parallel configuration - dont forget to set a suitable Filter Mix or Modulation as required

Hi Everyone,
Just some tips about using Flexoid.
For Music Makers
------------------------
To get the most out of the default presets, please play around with the Ribbon and the X/Y Pad. These can drastically change the sound/tone of each preset.
You can create some amazing evolving sounds and tonal rhythms by recording the Ribbon & XY Pad movements.
For Sound Designers:
-------------------------------
Flexoid has so many options and modes and dual filter options that a quick skim through the online manual is rather essential reading.
Adding in Ribbon & X/Y Pad modulators gives players a really expressive preset to play around and customise their sound with.

This synth is pretty complex. 3 different oscillators all with different capabilities and methods of working. The routing is versatile but takes some getting used to. Its performance capabilities are also very interesting with the ribbon and x-y pad - some of the factory patches demonstrate this, (some of them sounding a bit rough until you try the x-y pad, then all becomes clear). And then there's the onboard effects! Phew!
So much to take in! All of this means that the sound design is going to take some time this month to get it right.
At least I think I've managed a decent kick (consistent anyway). I can post it tomorrow if anyone's interested

Ah, you should turn all FX off to check the RAW sound is tight everytime first.jlanthier wrote:Got it! I'm working in Reaper, and they're easy to find if you're looking for them in the right place - thanks!C.Kerry wrote: It's VST2.4 so your Music Host program should have options to load/save .fxp or .fxb preset files So, Load/Save presets depends on which Music program you are using.
Thanks for the tips. It's not drift (the patch is already Note-On Sync), and yes - I'm aware that there are *many* destinations that all can be modulated by many things - it's funny it's a subtle change so I'm still hunting for what exactly is being modulated (it must be buried somewhere, haha! It's truly none of the obvious things!) but it really shows up with the reverb cranked... anyway, I appreciate your help - especially considering that I didn't know there were ANY presets until you pointed me toward my DAW. Now I have many starting points besides the one patch which is a godsend!C.Kerry wrote: As for 'modulation' - it depends what you mean. In Flexoid all the modulators are located at their destination areas i.e. Oscillator mods, Filter Mods - you choose the modulator and set the depth.
The Oscillators also have 'Analogue Drift' emulation which changes the pitch of the oscilltors over time just like real old analogue ones - you can set this to off.(zero depth)
Another factor that affects things like Drum sounds is 'Note-On Sync' Each oscillator has a 'Sync' option - set it to 'Note' this ensures the oscillators start at the same Phase for every note. Be sure to set it for all Osc's
'Free' sync mode emulates old analogue synths where the oscillators begin at whatever phase/cycle they are at when the note is played.
The Dual Channel Reverb has internal Modulation to make the reverb more 'Lush' - this might be what is 'muddying' your Kick sound. You can turn this off by setting 'MOD' to Zero - located at the Right hand side of the Right channel reverb.
Give that a try and see if it is tighter.
If you still have problems, you can send your preset to me and I will try to lock it down.

Hello everybody.
It's been a week since I started learning the synth.
I just joined the group on SoundCloud and discovered 292(!) members already. That's intimidating. No chance to win.
I produced a piece once using only MinimogueVA - wasn't satisfied with the result.
What kind of music is expected in this challenge?
What are its priorities - to demonstrate possibilities of the instrument or music itself?
Are drums and percussion sounds mandatory? (If yes, I'm leaving
)
I'd be glad to hear some of your music made with X-Jupitae.
Thanks

You will be able to hear the music as soon as anyone uploads a track, dont be put off uploading your own as anything and everything is allowed and welcomed as long as it is within the rules and no I dont believe percussion is mandatory. I say all this but I only just joined before the last challenge myself

You are absolutly free in this challenge. Do whatever you can get out of the synth and has the structure of a song. Dubstep or Psytrance seem to be a good choices for genres to win.
People here appreciate the variety of sound coming from the synth in the challenge, so every genre is welcome. Just take care to follow the rules. Good luck.

Hi sfiks,
For the current contest there have been "only" 47 submissions but Synth1 is also quite a popular synth. If you have not written many (one synth) songs yet the chance to win is likely not that big anyway. But hey, that's why it is called a challenge. And one of the best way to grow is by taking challenges.

Hope to see (or rather hear from) you in the next contests (I will skip on OSC69)!
Fortunately this is just the number of Soundcloud member who have joined the group and not the actual number of contestants.sfiks wrote: I just joined the group on SoundCloud and discovered 292(!) members already. That's intimidating. No chance to win.![]()
Like already mentioned by the others there is no preferred genre. I think the best thing to do is to simply listen to some of the submissions from the last contests. You can find them here on the left side of the page.sfiks wrote: What kind of music is expected in this challenge?
I think it all depends on the person who reviews the tracks. I have written down the criteria that I apply in another post in this thread as have some of the others. Put shortly, for me its a mix of musical as well as technical craftmanship.sfiks wrote: What are its priorities - to demonstrate possibilities of the instrument or music itself?
Interesting question as this is exactly the first thing that I try when the synth for a new challenge is announced. Check if I can get some good percussion sounds out of it.sfiks wrote: Are drums and percussion sounds mandatory? (If yes, I'm leaving)
