I've tried the demo and it's not the most stable combination, but I don't know if that's a problem with jBridge or Patchwork. Short answer though: it does work.

If I read between the lines here, with your 3, 6 and 9, it looks like you're trying to use Patchwork as a DAW—trying to make it handle all your channels and routing, probably as the standalone app.
Aux channels won't get me to the same place quite as easily. Let me explain what I was doing. I was playing around with delay effects today, coming up with interesting ways to put things into the feedback path of a delay. So if I want to have the delays modulated, I'd 1) insert a delay into Patchwork's Pre section, 2) set the delay to 100% wet so there's only the feedback with no original signal, 3) insert a chorus effect after the delay, and 4) use Patchwork's the global Dry/Wet knob to control the mix. Voila! Chorused delay.

The chains I was playing with today were more involved than that with tape sims, chorus, spring reverb, and pitch shifters, but same basic concept as the example above. Sure I could do all that on an Aux, but that's still not as flexible as Patchwork (see next paragraph)

Now, I was feeling saucy today and wanted to take my cool new delay sounds and pitch shift everything (including the dry signal) up an octave. Using Patchwork in my DAW it's simple, I just insert my pitch shifter after Patchwork in the effect bin. But, if Patchwork included more than just a global dry/wet knob, I could have the Pre section 50% wet, and have the pitch shifter in the Post section 100% wet. This would mean having this flexibility all within Patchwork itself without ever needing the DAW. And if I were just doing that in a DAW alone, I'd have to use a combination of Auxes and busses (i.e. messier).

Having a dry/wet knob for each section in Patchwork would 1) add a lot of flexibility and 2) allow me to save entire effect chains within Patchwork without having to use a DAW (which as you correctly point out, is particularly useful when using Patchwork as a standalone effects processor in standalone mode).
PatchesOnHand wrote:8. Splitting the input signal into component channels is more something the DAW should handle, even if you need multiple instances of Patchwork.
Sure, could be done elsewhere, but would be cool to have built right in to some future version. Why not allow for users to process the left and right channels independently? It'd be expanding the same basic concept of "look at all the cool multi-effects you can do here that you can't easily accomplish in a DAW."

Not a high priority request, but like I said, if we could talk about wishlist features for a version 2.0, that'd be one of mine.
PatchesOnHand wrote:9. Uhh ... yeah, not for a $99 product.
Again, if we're talking version 2.0 (I specifically prefaced that section of the post with that), why not add it? Blue Cat's certainly got enough algorithms in the library to pull it off. And I didn't say the price would need to stay the same.

MuTools Mux is fantastic, covers a lot of similar ground in terms of hosting VST's but includes synths and effects and is only 59 Euros. Magma is $199. Excaliber is $299. SoundToys $499. Eventide's Anthology X $699. Those last three are also very limited and don't host VST plugins. My point, there's a wide range of pricing that a product like that could be sold for. If what Patchwork included were dramatically increased in version 2.0, then there'd be no reason the price would need to be static.

'Obvious troll' wasn't. It was a statement of my opinion of what I'd like it to do.

As to why I'm commenting ? That's what the forum is for, or at least it was.

Anyway, nice to see a product being updated. Carry on with your (more) appropriate comments on whatever else there is to comment on.
