There was no need to apologise or even change it.musikpro wrote:Hey guys I am the creator of this sample pack cover, and i just want to start by apologizing to anyone who is offended by this cover, it has been changed. Let me be honest by saying that it was completely unintentional i had no idea thats what it was, i have no memory of this happening as i was only 3 years old then. It was truly a simple idea in my head, not a piece of art, the pack is all about deep rumbling basslines and i thought, what "natural" sound has the most bass? The first thing that came to mind was an "explosion" then i googled "space explosions" and that picture was the coolest looking one to me that i found. Anyway guys sorry again to anyone who was offended by the image it was a complete mistake and i will for sure be more careful in the future!

Well why not eradicate the German language entirely or even Germany itself? Obviously they are both triggers for certain groups. Hey I'm from Ireland any time I hear an English accent or see the Union Jack or walk by a Catholic church I'm offended because of the abuse that went on in Ireland decades and centuries ago.murnau wrote:That is correct but i think that many of the nazi guards had such a iron cross so it's not that irrational if a survivor is shocked seeing it unexpected.

And it was pretty relevant to the lyrical content of the album and the general political viewpoint of RATM too.Aloysius wrote:It wasn't the cover that sold the RATM album. It was the music.

But Joe Perry already had used that conceptAloysius wrote:It wasn't the cover that sold the RATM album. It was the music.

And that would be earning multi corporate record label Epic/Sony some more money ?Deep Purple wrote:the general political viewpoint of RATM too.

I can honestly say I bought that record solely because of the cover. I had never heard of them and saw that cover and I always loved that picture (what a protest)...Aloysius wrote:It wasn't the cover that sold the RATM album. It was the music.

That was just about the most hardcore thing ever. Sit there, douse yourself in gasoline, and immolate yourself without so much as a flinch or a whimper. A pillow was added for comfort. Meditation is the shit.

I dont know what you trying to say here? Everything can function as a trigger and It's not on you or me to decide when a former victim have the "right" to feel offended or not. Back to your comment: I can imagine that someone who survived the Shoah can get flasbacks hearing german language. What is so strange about it?lotus2035 wrote:Well why not eradicate the German language entirely or even Germany itself? Obviously they are both triggers for certain groups. PS. Compyfox, i simply like old german words and i'm interested in architecture thats all. Hope nobody feel offended.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

I agree as well. Very stand-up thing to do, but still...this is the problem with society today. Get some stones, people.

Perfectly stated, DP. @musikpro - thanks for the clarification and FWIW, I just bought the TR-9to5 sample pack. I was in the market for a complete X0X sample pack and, not only does this one fit the bill, your handling of this issue clinched it for me. I wouldn't have even known about this pack if not for this thread, so it just further shows that there's no such thing as bad press, right?!Deep Purple wrote:Good to hear that it wasn't intentional, but then I would have been surprised if it was.musikpro wrote:Hey guys I am the creator of this sample pack cover, and i just want to start by apologizing to anyone who is offended by this cover, it has been changed. Glad you've changed it - while it's not the worst thing in the world, it's always good to not offend if that's not what you set out to do in the first place.
