Bought it just few minutes after playing with the demo
Hah... I was the same. But because I had Serum, I was kinda' 'trying to not like it' and save some money, But I bought the little fragger after a test spin, and don't regret it. Still using it a lot.

Love the arp!!

Actually, this would be a good synth for a beginner too. So easy to use... :tu:

That changes the ballgame a bit, at least for me. The Wavestation...not sure how that stands up to Codex, or rather vice versa. If I didn't own the two, I'd probably grab the Korg first, at 50 US it's quite the steal. Vintage sound, excellent modulation options, the "stacking" parameter (not unlike PPG 3 in that way).
IMO they are very different synths. Wavestation is a nice synth especially for soft pads. Codex is more in your face synth. Wavestation can't do such edgy/sharp digital with analogish feel sounds.

I like Wavestation, and it was from the most used, but between Wavestation and Codex if I have to choose which one stays and which one goes away, I choose Codex to stay! Young blood always wins :hihi:

I don't think it is only for a beginner! It is very capable synth and if I didn't have some background in Wavetables, I wouldn't be able to understand the ocsillators. I still believe that the developer did a great job in simplifying the complexity in a very nice design :tu:

Oh well, I had to update Reaper 5 to RC3 today and Codex appeared in the VST3i list :) Still I see 256 pdc but using it with Reaper's Wasapi driver is great :tu:

I played with it today and heard the pads again, well I think they are great pads but I shouldn't compare them with other synths. After reading the long thread about Codex, I begin to agree with some members here about its digital analogish character.

I checked the leads today, wow! really good (I ignored the dubstep ones). In short, it is a very inspiring synth, I had so many sketches for songs floated in my mind. I think I will use it a lot especially in 'Depeche Mode' songs style together with sunrizer and Arp2600v :D
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Sorry yes... It's very capable synth, and is well able to make a wide range of sounds. I just thought that if you were a beginner to syntheses, it'd be cool because you get something decent by just twiddling knobs about - unlike some of the more clunkier synths. :)

Great for glassy pads because the unison is very nice and sounds very rich (even though it's limited).

Yeah, great for leads as you said as well. :tu:

I was going to demo it and thought about buying, but yeah, that Shell/installation/Lic. system is soo, not user friendly, for me. I've been trying for hours, to install on Win7 x64 and my Win8x64 in FL 11 and 12 to demo Codex. I've given up, since the sale is hours from being over, any way. Oddly, I've got two other Waves, I don't use now, because the shell system, keeps giving me errors. :(
