Spire, Sylenth1. Z3TA 2 isn't too shabby for that kind of sounds too.

I believe people dismiss this kind of sound for trance leads only. There's so much more more you can do with it. Pads for example. And, as far as i know, you're a big fan of 80ies music. Well, those 2 oscillator saw pad patches with chorus are not much more than, yeah, a supersaw. :P But i dig trance leads too anyway, so.

Not sure where this kind of aversion hails from anyway. I mean, the more harmonics, the richer, and "better" it will sound to our ears, so it's no wonder that this kind of sound is popular, and much used. In any kind of music. Maybe people confuse "supersaw" with those big room banger kind of sounds.

I don't like Trance... But I do like Supersaws with a load of distortion. However I do love 80's pads.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Hating trance leads is so 2012.

Now in 2016 trance leads are good again 8)

I don't think that is the case. Supersaw has a typical sound, which Roland developed and probably registered. It is more than just two oscillators with chorus, but no, not everyone likes that sound, nor do I agree on your harmonics statement. Yes, I love 80's pads, but simple classic ones, that already existed way before Roland invented the Supersaw sound.

Of course one can use a supersaw synth and detune the waves only very slightly, but in that case I don't really need the supersaw thingy to begin with.

You don't have to agree to facts. They are just that, facts. A sound with many harmonics will always sound better, richer to our ears. A static sine wave for example is boring. A static sawtooth is already much more interesting. It really gets interesting when you have 2 saw waves detuned against each other. That's how our ears work (and our brains).

I don't know why i'm explaining that really. :? You do have synthesizers, and know how to work with them pretty decently. Btw, you don't have to like, or use supersaws in your music. But there's no need to deny facts just because of a dislike.

KVR forum discussions pretty much revolve around that. :hihi:
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Unfortunately. :D

It's not a fact. Liking something is highly subjective. And some people indeed prefer cold sine pads to sizzling saw ones.

Supersaw is a very specific method and sound, and as soon as it is dialed in enough to produce that typical sound, I don't like to hear it, it sounds cheap and irritating to me.

Some people like pain. But does that mean that the majority likes pain? Not really.

Btw, of course noone will make songs only using supersaws. There's always additional stuff, and if it works right for a part, there will be a sine wave sequence too, or the kick will be a sine etc. But, in a mix, you usually have content in the whole frequency range. Otherwise it simply won't sound good.

Sunrizer.
My first and only choice if i "just" need a supersaw sound closest to JP8000.

Well, all my favorite synth songs are from before Supersaw was even invented...

And i have favorite tracks which don't even feature a supersaw.

Time to quote my original statement:

"Popular and much used". That doesn't mean that YOU have to like or use it.

Don't really have favorite. But anyways, Hive is nice, Dune(1&2) is nice, Electra 2 is nice, Diversion is nice, Sylenth is Nice, jp6k is nice, Lush101 is nice, DiscoDSP Corona is nice, KarmaFX modular is nice, Zeta2 is nice, Synthmaster is nice, MPowersynth is nice... *edit* Rapture Pro is nice.

They all sound a bit different but I like them all since they're all.. Nice.

You get the pic? :P

A lot of people don't like it, not just me. So your whole claim that the more harmonics the better is just your opinion.
