It does appear there is one too many l's in what I typed. <Quasi-> indicates 'almost', in case this usage is as novel to you as your post suggests. BTW, I actually have zero interest in what you do outside of a KVR thread. The entire point was to reflect you ad-hom'ing me: "Yet you've wound up in a lot of fist fights.", like "I have never called people morons" exemplifies 'argument at the person'. In the context of: things done in the service of avoiding the point.harryupbabble wrote:"Quasi-illliterate". I have never typed that word before today. Hahaha that sounds like Bill Clinton. But "quasi-illliterate" is your word, Jan.jancivil wrote:Yet you've wound up in a lot of fist fights. FTR, I characterized mistaking 'then' for 'than' as "moronic" and a sign of a paucity of reading (hence, quasi-illliterate). Which is specific rather than the generality as we see you state here.

"I have never called people who misuse words "morons" nor "illiterate" is me making sure the Australian understood that "I have never called people who misuse words "morons" nor "illiterate". The thread looks confusing with all the quotes within quotes replies. Your words could wrongly look like it's being stated by me. My statement is for reasons of clarity. It was directed at the Australian. I was not having an argument with the Australian.jancivil wrote:It does appear there is one too many l's in what I typed. <Quasi-> indicates 'almost', in case this usage is as novel to you as your post suggests. Back on topic: from the answers gathered here and elsewhere, pop music, or more specifically pop song, seems to have these qualities:
1. very easy to remember
2. very whistleable melody
3. very relateable lyrics
4. very catchy hooks or riffs
5. very short in length, about three minutes
Hard to do if one is not Paul MacCartney or people like that? Most aspirers can write music but they can't write lyrics and vice versa?

It also needs to catch the mood of the consumer at a given point in timeharryupbabble wrote:pop song, seems to have these qualities:

I doubt Let's twist again, or Popcorn if re-released now would become such massive hits as they were in the 60's/70's

Your first statement is most likely very true. But your second statement might be partly false because stuff from the past can "catch the mood of the consumer at a given point in time" according to the link below:Numanoid wrote: It also needs to catch the mood of the consumer at a given point in time
