Some DJs are musicians but being a DJ is not being a musician per se. Simple test, give a young kid a guitar or a turntable and ask them to make music.

I used to DJ a lot in the mid to late 00s. Vinyl and/or digital. Don't particularly give a shit if I'm a musician or not, or if people think what I do requires skill or not. I just like getting behind the gear and getting people in the room dancing.
