Studio one 3 best daw worst GUI then logic okay daw amazing GUI imo.

I really hate how long presonus has taken to address how many people dislike the new gui which seems around half of its user base.

Bitwigs GUI is fun. Haven't worked on something long enough in it to say if it has any long term eye strain effects but I wouldn't imagine

Logic X gui sucks. I prefer logic 9 instead.

S1v3 gui sucks. I prefer s1v2 instead.

Funny how i prefer daw when they're less bloated.

No eye strain here... but I do kinda wish the user could change the orange color...

I published two free themes for the Logic 10.2 interface. I created them with custom icons, tweaked RGBs, and changed certain GUI aspects of the plist files themselves. Here is how they look; one is dark, one light.

I haven't used Logic in a long time, but I like its GUI, but then I also like S1V3 so what the heck do I know?

I've been using the S1 demo a bit more today & while messing a bit with the appearance controls does indeed help a bit, I just find it hard to work in after a short while. Persons seriously need to work a bit more on the GUI, add some definition & separation between sections.

Ok I should have zoomed the midi notes in a bit more in the S1 pic to be 100% but for complete legibility I'm pretty sure Logic wins

I honestly do not understand people's difficulty with Studio One's theme, but then, I do understand not everyone sees colors the same and what may not have contrast or definition to one person may be what is easy on the eyes to another. I look at the screenshots above and don't see any dramatic difference in legibility. To me, the UI issues in apps usually involve confusing menus, unclear icon meanings, weird placement of stuff, I may have preferences for certain colors, but only stuff like reading white text on a black background bug me out. Since DAWs aren't word processors, I don't have much issue with the various skins (and I'm not colorblind).

Something where I think in the screens Logic does win is in how it displays note velocities as a horizontal bar instead of a vertical line. They both have their benefits, with the ideal situation being where you would be able to choose.

In my opinion no DAW has a good GUI.
Moreover a good GUI should be compatible with touchscreens.

I'm wondering about the thoughts on the unconventional DAWs like Mulab and Traktion. I used Traktion 3 for a year I guess as my DAW, I liked it well enough but never thought the UI particularly made anything more clear at a glance than most DAW's mixers, esp. against newer UIs that are geared towards working in one window. Mulab I never have given enough time to properly demo, just poking it with a stick mostly.

I guess I'm crazy but I don't like the darker UIs. There are areas in Cubase that need more contrast, but I'm really happy with the direction of the project window in Cubase. Not so much the mixconsole, although they did come a long way to fixing the hover problems.

It's Cubase for me (6 upwards). Then Logic (9 is nicer than 10) then Reaper 5 (default). Actually, it's Ableton Live after Logic then Reason 5 or 7 then Reaper 5.
