Worthy of analog, by which you mean analogue right ?grabme wrote:Never mind advanced, how about one that actually sounds good and worthy of analog?vata44 wrote:It is a more advanced Minilogue... I heard from someone who knows.
How is something worthy of analogue ?
It is either analogue or it isn't, or it may even be a hybrid, but worthy of hahahahaha, have we actually gotten so far down the rabbit hole of BS that the word analogue....wait sorry....analog, is deified ??

Its not a photograph, its a 3D model.dumbledog wrote:That joystick looks like it will break within seconds.

Yup. 3D models of fake joysticks are pretty much guaranteed to be sturdier than photographs of fake joysticks. Its to do with how the pixels join together.AnX wrote:Does that mean its more sturdy?whyterabbyt wrote:Its not a photograph, its a 3D model.dumbledog wrote:That joystick looks like it will break within seconds.

I think it's going to be an entire new line or reissue of......... Something. In those colors.
I don't think they'd do an announcement like this for an update of a preexisting product.

If you make an analog synth then at least make it sound warm, fat or exhibit a certain character usually associated with traditional analog. I have heard the demos of this synth and nothing about it sounds any better than a virtual analog or plugin synth.bungle wrote:Worthy of analog, by which you mean analogue right ?grabme wrote:Never mind advanced, how about one that actually sounds good and worthy of analog?vata44 wrote:It is a more advanced Minilogue... I love my Minilogue. Sure, it doesn't sound like a Moog or MS-20, but it has its own character. It works great amongst my other analog gear. Then again, each of my analog synths have their own sound and character. It's all in the way you use your gear.
My friend/producer Felipe from Chile just picked up q Minilogue and absolutely loves it.

minilogue was designed from the ground up to be its own, contemporary thing ... not something that built on any pre-existing analog designs or notions.
and that's kool in my books. because they already sell stuff that aims for those classic vibes, and I feel confident that they will re-issue some more classics if not design some contemporary things that deliver on those same classic vibes, albeit with a higher voice count than the mono or duophonic of their existing re-issues.
korgs re-entry into the analog world has been from the ground up, starting with monotrons and getting more and more sophisticated in gradual analog iterations ... so their first analog poly (during this renaissance) was a contemporary thing - the minilogue, i'm sure they will deliver an 6/8+ voice 'classical' poly at some point. They certainly appear to be on that trajectory.
imo, ymmv, god bless america.

While purists may scream at me, reality is that virtual and plugins actually sound very very good, but my point stands "Worthy of analog" is a completely stupid statement.grabme wrote:If you make an analog synth then at least make it sound warm, fat or exhibit a certain character usually associated with traditional analog.
