My reading of this is that upgrades from older full versions aren't included.
You are eligible for price-reduced upgrades if you own one of the following products:

Cubase Artist 6/6.5/7/7.5/8/8.5/9, Cubase Elements/AI/LE/Essential/Studio/SX/SL or Sequel. The updates and full versions of Cubase Pro 9 and Cubase Artist 9 are excluded from this special upgrade offer.
The update sale was last month.

Nope, it's current. Got the mail yesterday. Until 31st of August.

Last month was email-only, now it's on the Steinberg site. I got my update from 8.5 Pro to 9 Pro around 3 4 weeks ago.

You are right and thanks for the info that I read in the bargains thread by another guy. I have finally got the Pro upgrade from Artist. No download required as it seems all are already there, but locked in the Artist version.

40% discount is nice and made the upgrade price reasonable for me. There are many additional features I would use that sure worth the price :)

Anyway, while still Cubase is my main DAW, Studio one is still a very strong alternative DAW and I'm still using it especially its CPU usage has improved a lot :tu:
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I know soon I'm gonna have to upgrade to Sierra, then I'll have to buy Cubase 9 or 10...

it's like - what do you say?... cognitive dissonance?
I love using Cubase. v6.5 is great! I love it, except for the 3rd party plugin crashes...

but STEINBERG!!!? f**k i hate those guys.

like - upgrading or flippin UPDATING or whatever they call it... from 6.5 to 9 costs just as much as buying a new copy! It's plain rude. I've spent THOUSANDS of dollars with those f**kers, and that's the thanks i fuckin get. c**ts

Steinberg seems to have sales like this mid-cycle of any release. It seems tied to financial projections in that the better a release does, the fewer versions included in the deal. Legacy full versions are the first to get the axe. LE/AI will always be included, they're the bread crumbs leading to the upgrade portal.

Oh, remember that if you run a soft eLicensed version you might need to purchase a Dongle. They used to include them with LE/AI upgrades, but I'm not sure they still do. That'll add another $40+ to the purchase price.

Ikr, I don't understand their logic in separating the sales. It just create two separate shitstorms in both sales period.

"WHY IS THE UPDATE ISN'T ON SALE?? I AM A LOYAL CUSTOMER HAVING THE FULL VERSION!!"
"uuh.... It was last month"

Steinberg has never cared about shit storms, just look to the cancelled last SX3 update. People were off the hook over that.

No, like I said, it all comes down to the bottom line. They could easily group the legacy in with the LE/AI deal and have done so in the past. It all comes down to income projections for a given release at certain points in the cycle life and where real life income is in relation.

Post

Just stay away from cubase.not and you'll be fine :hihi:

Post

Oh boi, are there we there yet again? Steinberg bashing fest?

Stay away from KVR and you'll be fine? :P But, seriously, isn't it possible to use a decent software, instead of complaining about it? Noone has to buy upgrades, you know. OP can just go on using 6.5, and he'll be fine, just like anyone else. This is straight first world talk. Steinberg do what they do, and success, or the lack of it will decide whether they do a good job, and whether their customers are cool with it, or not.

Vote with your wallet. Noone from Steinberg will read through this anyway.

Post

It's illogical to blame a company because you missed their sale, Jim.
