So far Waveform 9 has been rock solid for me! It really feels like the developers put time into refining the software and I hope this release gets the attention it deserves.
Windows 10 PC. Reason. Cubase. Waveform. Reaper. Studio One Pro. Epiphone Les Paul Pro II. Nektar Panorama t4. Yamaha RBX Bass. Faderport 2. Eris E5 Monitors. SSL2 Interface. Audient Evo 4. AKG C214. Aston Origin. MXL 990.

Other than a few fussy 3rd party plugins, Waveform 9 itself has been rock solid here, without any crashes so far.

Good job! :tu:

I am currently in the process of moving away from Mac/Ableton Live setup to a Windows environment and find myself testing different DAWs and wow, I will say that I am impressed with Waveform9.
I love the rack/modular feature and I find the GUI soothing (am I crazy?)

I do wish it was more touchscreen friendly, as there are some quirks when choosing plugins in the dropdown menus but other than that, this is in the running for my Windows DAW along with Bitwig (cluttered GUI is the biggest downfall) and Reason 10 (tiny tiny GUI)

Also, Ableton Link would be a great addition!
But then a strange fear gripped me
and I just couldn't ask....

how does it deal with midi vst's? can a midi vst send a different midi channels to different tracks?

Yes...

Tracktion is very very flexible when it comes to routing...

The more I use it, the more I like it. It needs a few more bits and bobs to be my main DAW (like multi - track flex time and MIDI export that doesn't put all the midi channels in one single big chunk).
but I find I'm using it instead of Cubase more and more.
The opening page with all the folders / subfolders hyerarchies is fantastic too

But the integration is not good like with Reaper or Live, you can not record notes coming from midi vst, this + no auto tempo analyzation are stopper for me right now :-(.

I reported that last year and got the impression that it was on their to-do list. I haven't tested export yet with Waveform version 9.

One workaround trick I found was that Reaper can split the exported MIDI chunk by channel nicely! :tu:

It seems to be a MIDI file 'type 0' vs. 'type 1' issue, which Reaper catches on import and asks if you want separate tracks.

Some other hosts are not that smart and import all the channels into one track.

Yea, I thought that might be the case. Reaper is real good with that kinda stuff.

If I had to submit a feature request so that I could move on to Waveform as a main DAW I would love:

1) Multitrack time warp
2) Cut where the pointer is, not the cursor. It is so much more accurate ad quick (Reaper docet)
3) A Marquee tool
3) Audio render of all the separate channels of a multi out VST. I use Addictive Drum 2. I like to have all the different channels separated (the rack workflow is pretty awesome). Only issue is that when I output the stems, the output channels produce empty stems. Also, If I solo one of the multi outs, the signal shouldn't stop (because the parent channel with the MIDI info doesn't play)
4) Articulation switches :D or at least the ability to select individual notes and assign them to a different MIDI channel

But, seriously, I am digging Waveform A LOT. It is super clean, sounds fantastic, looks good and it's FUN.
Tell you what. I'm about to do this production / re - mixing job for a Nashville songwriter. I'll be doing it completely in Waveform so I can put it through its paces. I'll probably start by adding some Airwindows and Hornet plugs as "preamps" to have a bit of analog coloration and then see what happens :)

I believe that there are some workarounds for this in Waveform. I use AD2 as well. But it has been a while since I set up a multi out instrument in Waveform, so I will have to check again.

But I agree that Waveform is just great, especially for playful/create experimental use. You can just jump in and have fun, even before you understand it all. It feels inspiring! :tu:

Plus it has enough strong features that if could be used as a primary DAW, once you mastered all that stuff under the hood.

It really does feel fresh.
I think the devs have found the perfect way to create a DAW that feels like a streamlined modern environment but it's still just about familiar to the dinosaurs like me :)

That´s not true... I find it even easier as in Reaper...
You can use every track as input for another and record the notes straight ahead...

Ok, so there is something i am missing. Can you tell me how to record midi coming out from Cthulhu or any other vst midi sequencer? Thanks

That is a lasso tool. A marquee tool would snap to the grid and highlight only the portion of the clips under the selection instead of the whole object.
If the devs implemented something like "double click splits the marqueed area" one could do editing on the fly without having to stop playback to move the cursor to the split point
