If you counted the number of YouTube videos made about a specific DAW, perhaps that would be a good measure of popularity.

Longtime Cubase user. Baffled about the popularity of Studio One in this poll. I really don't know anything about it. What is the reason for its rising popularity?

In case you haven't read the entire thread, online polls are easily manipulated with multiple votes. This one is a joke.

So even if the polls were controlled, the group responses would still be slanted by the community taking the poll, so the sampling is not very statistically meaningful. It's just for fun, and to spark heated debates about which is the best DAW ...

It's like a slimlined Cubase for me.

It sill has its issues, and the functionality is not nearly on Cubase's level, but, at least i can well understand that it's a good alternative for many. How much it is REALLY being used, by professionals, or hobbyists, is another question. I'd say it's rather popular among the folks hanging around on the internet, than out there. Same like Reaper.

I've seen lots of reports of it being very CPU intensive on a Mac, though.

Did the post I responded to not smack of trolling to you? I do not see how insulting a userbase of any piece of software could be anything but.

As for the 'false loyalty' bit, you'll need to elaborate on that one. I have not met many people who claim loyalty to anything just for the sake of deception, or to skew the result of some online poll.

FWIW, my host of choice these days is Cubase. I have, however, used Sonar quite extensively over the years and have found the userbase who contribute to the Cakewalk forum to be a helpful bunch. Making derogatory blanket statements of the type I responded to initially serve no purpose other than to derail.

I must admit that the "nonsense" part was a bit rude, so, sorry for that. I still don't think the post you quoted will have any effect on anyone voting in that poll. It's rather the multiple voters, who want to push their DAW, or any product, for whatever reason.

Again, though, i can't take such polls serious anyway. They're not representative at all.

I agree with you.

Though on seldom occasions, someone will post reasons for their opinion that piques my curiosity. It is how I got started down the Cubase path. Someone once referenced the MIDI Logical Editor within Cubase in a thread not too dissimilar to this one. That was enough to make me consider the switch.

Studio One is awesome, as soon as I tried the demo everything just clicked for me. I knew I found my DAW. I have tried EVERYTHING else and can't find anything else that works as well for me.

Mostly Cubase as my main DAW for making music. Reason comes second while I use Reaper a lot in testing plugs or playing around with synths.

Cubase and Reason still have the best shortcuts for me (Studio One as well). Midi editing is best in Cubase and font/colour contrast is the best for me.

I'm not using Live or FL Studio anymore as I can't find the time really, but I can make music with any DAW to be honest (Bitwig and Studio One are great DAWs as well, but I don't have them). The main challenge for me is how to track new ideas and trying to make them a reality in the DAW as I have all the necessary 3rd party tools (synths/drums/instruments) that can work in any DAW.

Still, I believe, having more than one DAW is a positive thing to minimise the GAS and the 'grass is greener' kind of things

In a state of insecurity, i installed Cubase again, and, once again found that Studio One is much faster, more streamlined, and i just like working in it better than in Cubase now. The only downside if the average GUI for me, but, i can easily overlook that, in favour of a (for me) more optimal workflow.
